Leeds Festival
Review of Leeds Festival (England) by danfellowes

Advantages: Friendly, Good music.
Disadvantages: Drugs, toilets!

|:| The Festival Leeds Festival is an annual rock music festival that happens every year at the end of August, usually the last full weekend of the month. Leeds Festival and Reading Festival are collectively known as Carling weekend. They have the same bands on over the weekend but on different days. Reading Festival has been going since 1961 where the origin of the festival began as the National Jazz Festival. In later years, with a rise in popularity ...
...the same line up in Leeds to split the demand. In 1999 the first festival was held in Leeds at Temple Newsom and it was a success. After a few complaints and riots it was forced to move location now to Bramham Park. The large park makes a perfect setting for the festival as it is very large allowing for the large numbers of music lovers to go there every year. Nowadays around 70,000 people are admitted each day and it is catching up on the admittance ... Read review

A unique and unforgettable experience.
Review of Glastonbury (England) by bodsquidge

Advantages: The music
Disadvantages: The mud

...of times to the mythic Glastonbury festival. At that time, there where only 140 000 visitors under tents, tipi's, in their cars, vans, trucks or simply under the starry/cloudy sky. It looked like a valley full of hippies trying to beat Woodstock, apart from the music. Long gone were the days of flower power and easy sex. Glastonbury was a musical orgy with different flavours and tempos from one side of the world to the other. ♪♫ The ...
...site (I'm sure this hasn't changed) is the large number of police men trying to organise the thick traffic, followed by the festival stewards who'll ask for such a ridiculous amount of money, that you'll wonder how youth can actually pay for the weekend out.... It was Ģ50 at that time. ♪♫ Having looked on Internet, you now need to prove your identity with photo to prove your ticket is yours, which you've booked in advance of course, ... Read review

Review of Download Festival 2005 (Castle Donington) by widdleAj

Advantages: it really is the experience of a lifetime for everybody!
Disadvantages: the cost, and the travel, and the queuing.

I've been to download festival two years running now and although I can't go for the full trip this year im still hoping on going for on of the days maybe even two. For those of you who don't know what download festival is, well I assume everybody is aware of a what a festival is, but download plays mainly rock, metal and music from the alternative scene, but even if this isn't really your kind of thing there is plenty going on that everybody will ...
...Let's do things chronologically. DOWNLOAD 2004. Well I can't believe I went for a start, it was one of those things id always dreamed of doing but never thought would happen, but I made it and it was really the best experience I have ever had. I had only been to one concert before that and I thought that was great but it's just so different with all those people, outdoors in that atmosphere. THE TRAVEL The festival is set in Derby so if you're ... Read review

Benicāssim 2009 - A tale of mad dogs and Englishmen
Review of Benicāssim Festival (Spain) by dr_dusk

Advantages: Music and the beach combined. A totally different setting.
Disadvantages: Overpowering heat. Really overpowering. Very bad crowd control measures.

...now was the turn of Benicāssim in Spain, which is probably about the 4th biggest. I'd heard of one friend of a friend who had been there, but essentially I did not know what to expect. Anyway, I was able to get a ticket at face value (160 euro, which is quite reasonable in comparison), which is for 4 days of music, and a whopping 9 days of camping. I then booked a Ryanair flight to Reus airport (near Barcelona), and so I was all set. You fly in over ...
...sweat out from your shirt. Benicāssim itself appears to be a midsized town, with a Lidl, a "Chelsea" pub, a water park, and 10-storey blocks of hotels and apartments. The festival site is a couple of blocks from the beaches, which are a good size, and have all the usual volleyball, sand sculpting, jetskis, and even a pedalo with a built in slide. Another thing you notice right away is that almost the entire campsite is covered in sheets of canvas, ... Read review

Gigging at the Green.
Review of Glasgow Green (Scotland) by Daisy_eats_Spoons

Advantages: All your favourite bands, almost in your back garden.
Disadvantages: No Radiohead, but who said it was perfect?

...Mansons' long awaited appearance in Glasgow was not as spectacular as expected. He appeared to have a sore throat, leaving the audience to do most of the singing for him, although i must admit the visual performance was very interesting. "The Beautiful People", "Rock is Dead" and "The Dope Show" did go down well with the most of the crowd, despite Mr. Mansons lack of actual singing. His dedication however, to the young Goth girl of Glasgow who recently ...
...The Strokes, who was exploring Glasgow with two of his roadies. Fabrizio Moretti was most charming, most handsome and most willing to let us paw over him, allowing us to take pictures and autographing various things for us. The day continued to get better, with punky King Adora's exhilerating set on the main stage. Singer Matt Browne managed to provide and entertaining show despite suffering from bleeding fingers due to his frantic guitar playing. ... Read review
