ZAVVI!! Does that mean 'Insultingly Expensive'?

Advantages: It's not called Virgin Megastores anymore.
Disadvantages: Everything; people will write country music about how bad this shop is.

There are a lot of things that can be said about a store that sells items 'above' the recommended retail price. Many of them being unsuitable for young ears and would probably warrant a washing my mouth out with copious amounts of soap; but for the purposes of this review I shall try to keep things both clean and objective. -Shop- The first thing I noticed as I entered the store is that it is quite dark and most of its theme is based on black fixtures ...
...I have noticed that these layouts are quite regularly subject to change. The prices, as scandalous as they are, are at least displayed in quite a large print for easy reference. The second thing that I notice is the music. Firstly that it is a rather poor choice, and secondly that it is about 130 decibels too loud. I am not a hermit or a prude who must be in absolute silence at all times, but I don't particularly like the idea of being deafened ...

Review of Virgin Megastore (Shop)

HMV music store

Advantages: exceptional value for money, excellent customer service.
Disadvantages: None that i can think of??

I think HMV is great, I have only ever in my lifetime had one problem with HMV and that was when i recieved a dvd all scratched before id even taken it out of the box?? I was refunded straight away though so no quarrel there, HMV have also introduced HMV purepoints now, What is that i hear you say well its a card that you pay £2.50 for and everytime you shop at HMV you recieve purepoints which you can redeem for other things more special or rare, ...
...at HMV regularly then it is very much worth it, I think HMV has everything you are looking for when it comes to entertainment, I also think the staff are very helpful, last week i was looking for a percific dvd I could not find it and asked a member of staff she too couldnt find it but she knew they has some in stock, the staff member asked me if i needed to do anymore shopping, which i did so she asked me to come back when i had finished in the ...

Review of HMV (Shop)

Our price- unconventional cd store

Advantages: Cheap prices, good deals, wide range of media
Disadvantages: Slighty unorganised

...big bargains for its coustomers, Our Price all sorts of unconventional ideas. It sells things 3 for 2 and has bargain bins. It has every genre of music in one shelf organised by alphabet. This may sound an undesirable idea but it really helps! No trundling round the whole shop to find the right genre only to find they've put it under the wrong one! No- you find the right letter and there it is! They sell, unlike other 'modernised' stores, vhs! The ...
...DVDs. This is a refreshing lack of change and, as I have only a video player in my room, is very helpful. I would reccomend using this store a lot as it is a very helpful shop. It has a few downsides, a dissapointingly small selection of posters and sometimes does not have the latest cds, but this is a small price to pay for the fantastic service by its friendly employees. stop trying so hard.

Advantages: some fine deals to be had
Disadvantages: it's too shiny

...the past year or two V shop has managed to earn my respect. And here is why. A few years ago our tried and trusted Our Price shop was unfortunately closed down (boo hoo). Despite everyone’s favourite music shop having disappeared off the scene. The glitzy glamorous V Shop no sooner replaced it. The style and colours shouted out meaning you didn’t miss it. Review of V Shop

The fightback starts and goes sideways here...

Advantages: Some of the cheapest prices around, good range of stock.,knowledgable staff,
Disadvantages: Idiosyncratic, spartan store layout (You will freeze to death in the winter in here!), not always the cheapest.

I discovered Music Zone In Bull St, Birmingham by accident about twelve months ago. As somebody who buys Cd's on a regular basis, I'm always looking out for new outlets and have a passion for rock music. I will never ever buy a new CD at full price (£16.99 what a skank eh?) so will either wait, download off Kazza( naughty-see my review on downloading) or search several outlets for the best price.
