Bon Jovi Crush Tour
Review of Bon Jovi - Crush Tour DVD by Lukejones1

Advantages: A great package, high content
Disadvantages: slightly below par performance

Bon Jovi have been among the elite touring acts of the world for more than twenty years, and to see them live is one of the top concert experiences in music. So it is with great anticipation that any fan waits for Bon Jovi concert releases. Filmed on August 30th 2000 during Bon Jovis hugely successful comeback in support of their first album for five years, the Crush tour DVD sees them wow 55,000 people in the Letzigrund stadium in Zurich, Switzerland. ...
...best you have ever seen Bon Jovi perform (Newcomers should be suitably impressed) There is a certain spark that is not quite there like in other shows, although this may be down to the fact the crowd are largely uninspiring; it is a fine performance but lacks the magic Bon Jovi concerts are famed for. It is worth saying it rains through the whole show which maybe dampened the spirit. The DVD as a package on the other hand is very good. This was ... Read review

Prime Eminem
Review of Eminem - E (Wide Screen) by wendover123

Advantages: The music and videos are fantastic
Disadvantages: The extras are poor

...The Way I Am: Eminem showed his anger with this song, Eminem told the world dont judge because you dont know me, the press ridiculed him because of his views but thease people have know idea were he's come from and what he's gone through. Another powerful video. The Real Slim Shady: Eminem shows another side to his personality, a comical side which turned out to be a massive hit, fantastic song. the video is also brilliant. Role Model: This song ...
...by the devil played by Eminem and the angel Dr Dre. The video shows Eminem and Dre arguing and influencing peoples minds, fantastic! My Name Is: This was the song which helped Eminem to stardom, the lyrics are hilarious as is the video. Just Dont Give A f***: This song shows the rebelious side of Eminem as he tells it how it is and the video shows a trailer park were he was brought up. Brilliant A fantastic DVD ... Read review

The modfather live
Review of Paul Weller - Live At The Royal Albert Hall DVD by Paulshistory

Advantages: Paul Weller live DVD
Disadvantages: Can't be seen full screen on normal TV

I've followed Paul Weller now since he started with the Jam in 1977, through his days with the Style Council, and now throughout his 'solo' career. I've seen him live 6 times, and for those of you not fortunate enough to have seen him live, a live DVD like this one is the next best thing. Paul Weller has inspired the 1990's bands such as Oasis and Blur, and got the title 'The Modfather'. He regularly plays on 'Later with Jools Holland', and in February ...
...to London the next time Paul played the Albert Hall just to see the concert. Anyway, about this DVD. It captures Paul Weller and his band doing a 95 minute live set that comes solely from Paul's solo career. The full band and track listing can be found at the end of the review. I've always thought that Paul Weller sounds even better live than he does on vinyl/cd, and this DVD captures the vibrant energy that is evident whenever he is on stage. ... Read review

Stay Beautiful
Review of Manic Street Preachers - Leaving The 20th Century - Cardiff Millennium Stadium 1999/2000 DVD by abbichicken

Advantages: Perfect capsule of one strange night in Cardiff
Disadvantages: Not quite the same if you weren't there!

...I was a huge, huge Manic Street Preachers fan with all the "I was a teenage Manics' fan" connotations with it, and I couldn't think of anywhere better to be for my Millenium Eve. Being a Londoner myself, all my mates were down Trafalgar Square getting plastered, but somehow that just didn't appeal. I wanted to do something special. Something different. So I and my partner, we got on the train to fair Caerdydd, and we found our way to the stadium, ...
...been arranged. Our favourite little band of the last ten years had suddenly managed to secure the first major gig/event in Cardiff's new stadium, and we just had to be there! Now, it's available at anything from £5.00 on eBay and in HMV sales to £17.99 in Virgin I saw the other day, on DVD. The DVD was a must-have for me, although I'd already bought it on video the day it came out. In all honesty, there's not much difference between the two, and ... Read review

I Am Trying To Break Your Heart DVD
Review of Wilco - I Am Trying To Break Your Heart DVD by DavidJay

Advantages: Beautifully made document of beautiful-art-in-the-making.
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit much for non-fans.

...Jones' 2002 film focusing on Wilco at the most turbulent and creatively-fertile period in their career thus far is much closer to Micahel Lindsey-Hogg's 1970 Let It Be than, for example, Berlinger & Sinofsky's 2004 Some Kind Of Monster. Like the Beatles' picture, it is an essential, stunningly-made film but one that, in contrast to the insanely-entertaining Metallica feature, is unlikely to work for anyone uninterested in the band under consideration. ...
...radio station hour-after-hour-after-hour. Instead, Wilco set upon their own songs with maniacal zeal, pulling each asunder, settling none for a predictable verse-chorus-verse where a chorus-verse-verse from another track -chorus from songs yet to be written can be threaded together instead. Awe-inspiringly short-sighted, the record company balked at what the band had produced, preferring to cut their losses and drop both artist and record than follow ... Read review
