THis scanner uses the TWAIN driver set, so it is compatible with the majority of photo / graphics editing software.
I didn't like the actual scanning software supplied with the hardware, although my scanner worked faultlessly with MS-PhotoEditor and produced (maybe a little noisily!) fairly good quality scans.
Not a choice of scanner I would recommend to a business, but I feel this scanner is at the right ... more

Not a choice of scanner I would recommend to a business, but I feel this scanner is at the right price and has the right level of user friendliness to justify itself as a good candidate for the "Family Scanner". It's easy enough for the kids to use safely and doesn't require too much technical know-how to set up.
...from it – however, the Mustek 600CU does not disappoint. With a USB connection, the scanner is fast at transferring the images, although a little slow in the physical scanning. A range of scanning options mean that you can scan almost anything, at the best or most appropriate setting. For example, colour, black and white, grey scale or line art. There are resolutions beyond the need of ANYONE, and can even be linked directly to the printer ... ...not bad, and could be improved, especially with vivid colours, which turn out a bit wishy wash – also the line art setting needs improving, as when used with OCR (as the manual suggests), there are often discrepancies in the text. The scanner market is awash with similar models, and if you are to take my advice, don’t buy this one. Buy an Epson or that best you can afford. ...

I got this scanner bundled with my computer package, I found it very easy to set up and install, I found that the software that came with it was of a very high standard especialy when you look at the overall price. The quality of scanned images is top notch, It is very easy to use, I would recommend this scanner to anyone. Cheep but highly efficient, why spend more ? I have not had any dramas with it whatso ever, brilliant at the price, Try the scanner, ...
