The video recording on the DV3000 is nat the best in the world. In natrual light (outside) the camera can see everything you can but inside the colours tend to go into a orange/red blur. It has three diffrent video modes, OK quality, GOOD quality and NIGHT mode.
OK quality mode is great for recording things like bike riding and things that don't move very fast. But when you record things that tend to go faster than 15mph then the camera can keep up with it and it goes into a blur or somtimes the lense can't see it because it is going to fast. One good thing about this is that you can record for about 15 minutes at one time.
GOOD quality mode is the best mode on the camera as it uses 3.1 mega pixels. In this mode you can record things like F1 car races and skiing, basicly just things that go more than 15mph. Also in this mode you can capture things in more detail. But when recording inside thing tend to go black so you can't see a thing. The other dissadvantage with this mode is that it can only record for a maximum of about 5 minutes.
NIGHT mode is when you can record things in a darker surrounding and it comes out in good colour. This is also a good mode for recording inside as things don't go into a orange/ red blur anymore. But you can't record things at a high speed. Like the OK mode, when you do you just end up with a coloured blur!
When taking pictures with the DV3000 you have the same options as the video recorder. You can chose OK, GOOD or NIGHT mode. The apperance of these modes are exsactly the same as in Video mode. You can also zoom in on things when using the camera
The Zoom itself is ok for looking at things about 3ft away from yourself. When you zoom in the picture quality stays the same but as I said it can't zoom in very far. Another Problem with the zoom mode is that you can't zoom in while you are recording a Video. You can only soom in at the start of it!
When using normal battries they last for about 30 minutes to about 1 hour. I have never tried using rechargable battries although i have been told that they do last for longer.
The control pannel inside the camera is very easy to function. you have nine buttons; Record/Play, Self timer/up, Video/camera, Play/Pause, Stop, Menu/no, Delete/Clear Screen, Quailty/Down, Night mode/Sound. Then on the top of the camera you have three more buttons; On/Off, Zoom in/out, Set/Capture.
Other features are that it has; Digital Video, DSC and PC camera 3.1 Mega Pixels hardware resolution Audio / Video out for TV Easy-to-use controls and colour TFT 1.5" LCD Smallest, Lightweight and compact design Speaker Self-Timer Indicator Microphone Webcam (unable to use as a microphone for the computer) SD/MMC card support
The System Requirements for the PC; Pentium 166 MHz proccessor or higher Microsoft Windows 98SE / Me / 2000 / XP Avaliable USB port Super VGA card and colour moitor CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive At least 64 MB RAM 200MB available HD space
The price of this camera is about £50 to £60 in the shops but on ebay or second hand you could get it for one pound! I got mine off ebay, brand new for £15!
Overall I think this is a great camera just for messing about with but if you want it for serious things like making a music video or somthing of the like you are just better off getting a better camera
