The problems started when I put the batteries in and turned it on.
Video Camera: There are three quality settings.I started on the highest setting and recorded a 2 minute film. When playing the film back it was almost ubwatchable. It was certainly at under 10 frames per second, possibly even 5!. The camera did not focus properly and so the picture was blurred. At medium and low quality the frame rate did speed up but the picture wasn't worth watching. The cameras microphone also seened to picked up the loud clicking noise when you pressed the zoom keys. This was incredibly annoying.
Camera: In camera mode the product fairs better but again it suffers from a severe focusing problem and I have never seen so much red eye in a photograph. Even when using the included tripod the picture is out of focus so it is not to do with my trembling hands.
MP3 Player: Awful! I loaded 10 songs onto it and out of all 10 1 played properly. The others suffered from skipping and sometimes the whole camera would freeze which meant that you had to take the battery out and put it back in in order to restart the camera. The sound through the headphones was very faint, probably a quarter of what you would expect of a standalone MP3 player and the same applies with the loudspeaker function.
Voice recorder: Obviousely using the same software and hardware as the MP3 player because even when I shouted down the microphone only the faintest whisper could be heard during playback.
Connectivity. After installing the outdated and discontinued software that you get with the camera I connected the camera up to my computer and was pleased when I started downloading pictures and films from the camera. But then two minutes into the transfer the camera switched itself off and the transfer was lost. After trying several times the camera just kept on switching off. It didn't even leave me enough time to get a single video off of it. Only a couple of pictures. There is no mention of this issue on Mustek's website nor is there much information on anything else.

Advantages: Compact, Great picture quality, Great image processing. Disadvantages: Doesn't take AA batteries, you have to recharge the cam's battery.

I purchased this on impulse a few months back for a fair whack over the £87 it's advertised for on here! I bought it as a gift for my girlfriend, and from a personal point of view I'm really happy with it - and as far as I know, so is she!
It has lots of features, including MP3 player, Digital Camera, Digital Video Camera, Voice Recorder etc and while unfortunately it doesn't excel in any, it is consistently good at everything and does the job it's ... ...the highest quality mode the pictures do come out very well and clear, they seem to lack colour a tad but overall can't complain! Video Camera - Recording quality is decent and at a good resolution of 640x480. It *can* go a bit blurry if there's some quick movements, but i guess that's to be expected on digital video camers!
MP3 Player - Can hold a fair amount of songs if you have a decent sized memory card! Playback is pretty clear through headphones, ...

...my perfect easter preasent a mustek digital video camera.It is very small and compact it measures 82x33x62mm,belive it,it is very small!
The video camera only last around thirty minutes but is very good quality.It is not a camera or video camera to be used were there is no natural light.{I got very dark pictures from shotting in a pub}
The camera is fantastic,very easy to use.
it has a pull out screen which you just line up and press a button,it ... ...can view it.You can alter the settings for tacking pictures in the dark but it dont make much differance.It is also a mp3 player but iv not done anything with that department yet{will edit when i do}.
The control pannel is very easy to use with big buttons that just make it simple.By pressing the function button it will list all avalible functions and you just leave it on the one you want.This camera has a zoom in and out ,you can also press display ...

At first sight the DV4000 seemed an excellent prospect, being very light and offering the potential of VHS like quality at maximum frame rate. An inspection of the cameras screen looks promising - but my advice see it output on a computer first - then decide.Whilst it does many things - MPEG4 video, MP3 player, 2.1 mega pixel camera (interpolated to 3 mp) is a jack of all trades and a master of none. The MPEG4 mode at maximum resolution gives you ... ...VHS. The Camera function tends to over emphasize reds and there is no flash with occasional image blur. . However there is a useful feature of being able to add a sound clip to your photo. The MP3 player lacks any significant output musically and is not worth bothering with. I have owned both the MustekDV-5000 and it's predecessor the MustekDV-4000. The main difference in the 2 is that the dv5000 can take AA batteries, so you can make sure you have battery wherever you are, and also the dv5000 has a flash.
When i read about the dv5000 coming out i couldn;t wait to try it, I got it about 1 week after release for £109, as it seemed to have all the features the dv4000 was missing.
After replacing my broken dv4000 (the story is in my dv4000 review) with the dv5000: here is my take on the dv5000:
Pros:
AA Batteries - So you never run out
Flash - great for night time
Higher Megapixel - Better Quality Pictures
Mp3 playback is good through the external speaker
Cons:
The image you see on the preview window, while lining up a shot is NOT what the camera actually takes. With the dv5000 ...
