Its advisable you first install the cd drivers however, as windows xp likes to install the wrong ones itself, thereby screwing your operations up for the next ... ...hell has gone wrong!
All things aside, plug it in and you should see a little icon in your My Computer section. Double clicking takes you straight to the camera, and you'll see a couple of options: "Take Picture", and "Delete all pictures". The webcam has its own storage facility, exactly how much I do not know. I was able to store well over 30 photos on it at one time however.

Picture quality is OK, but if you want the other person to be able to see the new earrings you bought, dont even entertain the thought of buying this. It is VERY difficult to see small objects (which could be a plus as skin comes across pure and smooth, no blemishes!), and if the person has a slow connection, jerkiness is common.
Video capture: If you wish to do this, you'll have to download a free program, as it is not included with the webcam. I wouldnt advise buying the camera for this reason however, as video capture is, quite frankly, appalling.
Colors usually appear quite vibrant, and in bright light, photos come out pretty well, good enough to recognize everything, but not good enough for an album.
The design is small, nifty, and quite ingenious as the stand is actually a clip which can be attatched to the lid of a laptop should you have one. If not, a very powerful sticker can be placed on your monitor, and i guarantee it will not move from this spot.
Overall, for the price you really cant go wrong, however if you're looking for something which you can take videos with, or take high quality pictures, stick with the logitech branded cams. A good entry level, budget product here.
