I bought this as my hard drive on my laptop was getting full to the extent that it was getting a bit slow.
This is basically a hard drive like in every computer but it attaches to a USB port in your computer. This particular model is 250GB big, that is to say you can store 250,000,000 bits of information, quite a lot really. The packaging states that you can fit 71,000 photos; or 19 hours of digital video; or 62,000 songs on the hard drive. For ... ...with all the cables and software needed.
The BIG benefit of this hard drive over a lot of other hard drives is that it can connect to a firewire port as well as a USB port. Unfortunately firewire hasn't taken off as much as USB so there is a possibility that your computer may not have one. USB has a faster transfer rate but rarely reaches this top speed, where as the firewire has a slower transfer rate but tends to stick around the top of this limit, ...
