Advantages Fabulous twisting of the English language

Disadvantages May not appeal to those of a weak disposition

My Booky wook is a brutally honest biography of the English dandy Russel Brand. He may fool us with his massive hair and strange twistings of the english language but Brand opens up and lets us enter what became a drug fueled hedonism jumping from extreme highs to dangerous lows.

When I first saw the book I knew I wanted to read it, with a name like 'My booky wook' written in slightly blurred neon pink, it perfectly reflects Brand's unique sense of humour.

Just to give you an idea of what else is included here are some of the chapter names (in no particular order),

- umbilical noose
- boobaloo
- Dagenham is not Damascus
- First class twit
- A gentleman with a bike

This book begins and ends with Russel in a sex addiction clinic everything in between re-enforces why it was probably a good idea that he ended up there. Following his life so far, from baby to bounder we see how the women in Russel's life played a key role in his upbringing in deepest Essex.

Brand has included a fair amount of coloured photos and includes extracts from his diary in rehab, letters and flyers for his early plays.
The book is priced at £18.99 but I haven't seen it advertised at full price yet making this fairly good value for money.

Though he is very popular today, be aware that some of the topics he discusses are done with extreme honesty and so may offend. I certainly would think about who I give this as a gift to! When reading this book I often felt like I was prying on some fairly gritty stuff but Brand always seems to end up giving it a silver lining. That said I would gladly read this again as Brand's indiviual style of writting is infectious!

A worth while read for fans of Brand.

I may be under 18 but still wanna read this. This guy is a mystery really... good review tho if you are new to ciao. Follow daylehall's advice and put a little bit more info in there... I struggled when writing a review on a biography... but a little bit info here and there should be sufficient. Kirsty. x
