Advantages Advantages British and it is funny

Disadvantages Disadvantages This could be me in 20 years time

Life is hard, and frequently I get down in the dumps, and I need a lift. I like to sit down in front of the television and laugh at a comedy, something to make me switch off and forget my woes for a short time. When I think of decent comedy, something to really make me laugh, it is very rare that I think of a how made in Britain. I normally think of Friends, Will & Grace or Sex & The City. Not now though, I have found a British comedy, which cannot be sued under Trades Description. 'My Family' is very very funny, and it best of all it is British. This comedy is shown on BBC1 at varying times ... more

Advantages Advantages A Really Funny British Sit-com For a Change.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Please Cut Out The Canned Laughter!

Anyone asked what the best TV comedies of recent years have been will most probably come out with a long list of U.S. imports like Friends, Frasier, Cheers and Third Rock. The British comedies that most of us recall tend to be of a slightly older vintage, although they are repeated so frequently that you might think that Dad`s Army, Yes Minister, Fawlty Towers, Men Behaving Badly, Absolutely Fabulous and Hi-Di-Hi have only recently be made. British T.V has suffered a dearth of good, home produced comedies for such a long time that you would be hard-pressed to remember anything that will stand ... more

    Advantages Advantages really funny!

Disadvantages Disadvantages little unoriginal at times

My Family is now into its fourth series and apparently a fifth is also being planned. Few would have guessed it would become so popular when the first, shortest series was greeted with reasonable ratings but not huge enthusiasm. I’ve watched most episodes of this comedy since it started and thought I’d share why I think it’s one of the funniest things on TV at the moment. Obviously, the story centres on a family – a middle-class, rather-more-than-averagely-dysfunctional family. There are the parents, Susan and Ben Harper (played with great charisma by Zoe Wanamaker and Robert Lindsay), and ... more

    Advantages Advantages Very funny

Disadvantages Disadvantages Kris Marshall has left

My family first appeared on our screens in 2002 on BBC1 on a Thursday night, but is more likely to be seen on a Friday night now it lasts fof 30 minutes and has kept me amused ever since. Its about a typical family The Harpers, mum (Zoe Wannamaker), Dad (Robert Lyndsay) son Nick (Kris Marshall), daugher Janey (Daniella Denby) and youngest Michael (Gabriel Thomson) The dad Ben Harper is a dentist who hates having any dental work done to himself and also finds it hard to keep a dental nurse in his employment. He thinks he is the head of the household but in reality there is no point in him ever ... more

Advantages Advantages We can all recognise the situations, very funny

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's only 1.2 hour long

Zoe Wannamaker ( Susan )and Robert Lindsey ( Ben ) shine in this gem of a British Sit Com. The constant oneupmanship is hilarious and the situations are ones in which most of us have found ourselves. Susan is the backbone of the family or likes to thinks she is, while Ben is just looking for an easy life with a bit of peace and quite and maybe a bit of football here and then. With there 2 children they are drawn into strange and wonderful circumstances from which usually one of the parents has to back down or at least compromise. The backing down and compromising just isn't in either Susan or ... more
