My Naughty Little Sister - Egmont Childrens Books

My Naughty Little Sistser is a lovely little book written by Dorothy Edwards. I remember reading this book to my own daughter when she was little and then again to my graddaughter at the same age. This book has some lovely illustrations by Shirley Hughes which accompany and go well alongside the little stories in the book. The book has 192 pages so it is not too long for little ones.

This book is quaint and old fashioned but to me it is truly a classic and is timeless. The stories can be applied as much to today's modern world as in times gone by and the little stories really capture the imagination of the young reader, even if they have no siblings themselves they are able to identify with the characters in the book.

Each chapter is almost like a different story in itself and we learn just how naughty the Little Sister can be as she gets up to all sorts of pranks. My own daughter used to like best the story of when the children go to the funfair and the naughty little sister runs off. It is a charming collection of 'naughty' tales but with happy endings.

This is a lovely book to read at bedtime together and really captures the imagination of the youngest readers. Children of all ages will love to hear of the terrible pranks the naughty little sister gets up to and how she is always up to mischief by trying to cut off the cat's tale and biting Santa's hand and daring to eat all the pudding at the party with her equally naughty friend Bad Harry.

The characters in the tales are endearing and heartwarming and this is a book which I think will still be read to children in years to come. It would make a lovely stocking filler for a little one.
