What this Sat Nav is:
Well having visited a website I read that MyGuide 3100 Satellite Navigation System is a very popular sat nav model, so I decided to tell my mate who brought the MyGuide 3100 Sat Nav system.
The MyGuide 3100 Sat Nav Device is an entry-level plug-and-go navigation unit with a 3.5'' wide high-quality Touchscreen and compact casing with built in GPS antenna.
The MyGuide 3100 comes with an SD memory card containing pre-installed TeleAtlas mapping for the UK and Ireland.
Experience:
The slimline MyGuide 31000 GPS is cool, stylish and practical and the 3.5" LCD screen makes navigation a breeze - No need to worry if you get lost. You are able to search by postcode (full 7 digit search), or by "point of interest" (This is great, my mate has saved many points of interest, so whenever we want to go out somewhere we don't have to keep on typing the information in), this Sat Nav most definatly gives you the best route.
We wanted to go somewhere where we had never been before. My mate typed in the postcode and off we went. We ended up in placeses that we had never been to or visited but weren't worried because we were following the SAT NAV which seemed to know where we were going.
My mate missed a turn and thought 'what do we do now'. The SAT NAV automatically re-routed us. I also found out that the SAT NAV uses "detour" to avoid congestion, traffic black-spots or accidents if you are aware of them.
Upon arriving at our destination and tellings one of our friends how long it took us to get here, he couldn't believe how quickly we had got to the destination. We told him we just followed the SAT NAV (which found the quickest route).
In my experience the user interface is not only attractive but also fast and simple to use.
Features of the MyGuide 3100:-
Touch and Drive User interface with voice guideance 24 languages UK & Ireland maps pre-installed on SD card Integrated GPS antenna 3.5'' touch screen Easy to use menu Easy to understand graphics Multipoint route planning Automatic rerouting using ''avoid'' function Dynamic rerouting usually less than 10 seconds Large finger touch icons, no need for stylus Search by address or postal code 600km routes calculated in under 12 seconds Unique real time zooming 40 frames/second 2D & 3D map display

My mate brought his one for £117.49. I bet you can't get a TOM TOM for that much..
Advantages: Easy to use, Simple, Effective Disadvantages: Occasional lockup, lack of extra functions available for download
Just bought this device and it only cost me around £80. The interface is extremely simple and easy to use and contains many excellent features.
Upon setup the device worked fine for around ten to fifteen minutes but crashed after i enabled a few too many features for extra views on the map but was soon ok after a restart. The device has worked fine but the maps need updating because the first two POI (points of interest) that i chose to visit responded ... ...a Sat nav! although it did get me within a quarter mile of the place.
Some interesting features include automatic night mode causing it to switch between themes on the device depending on the time of day and the speed limit function which alerts you when you are over the speed limit.
One of the downsides to this device is that there is a lack of extra voices to download and currently the english version of the support site is down!
Overall this ...

Advantages: home charger comes with unit Disadvantages: maps are impossible to update
...cant update the maps as myguide dont intend on making any updates on thier website and teleatlas site just doesnt list this product although it uses their maps. If updates were available for this unit it would be perfect i work with people who use tomtom and navman and even a garmin and its just as good and sometimes even picks up addresses that theirs dont even with the outdated maps. I think its good that it comes with the home charger as well ...
