Manufacturer's product description
The eXtremeRAID 3000 fibre channel RAID Controller, best suited for SAN applications, offers full-featured RAID with uncompromising fault tolerance, data availability, longer cable lengths, higher data transfer rates and the ability to attach up to 252 drives for capacities up to 18.1 terabytes. The eXtremeRAID 3000 RAID controller delivers unparalleled performance and is capable of sustaining disk transfer rates of over 90MB/s and sustained cache transfer rates of over 180MB/s. It's dual fiber loops for drive-connect provide redundant connections to give extra fault tolerance for high-data availability applications. The split memory architecture provides a cache (ECC for data, parity for execution code) size of 32MB and 64MB for optimum throughput. It uses the fastest RISC processor on a PCI based RAID solution. The eXtremeRAID 3000 offers two fiber loops capable of data transfers of 100MB/s. It features a 64-bit PCI interface at 33MHz. Adding to the performance story is Mylex's proven, award-winning RAID firmware. The eXtremeRAID 3000 uses driver technology that has won Mylex more TPC-C benchmarks than any other RAID controller worldwide. With this technology, the eXtremeRAID 3000 provides the highest performance and most flexible RAID solution available.

Advantages: Decent performance, cheap, you can tell you're mates "I got one too!" Disadvantages: Not as fast as Pentium 4 rated at same speed, not future proof
...stands for XPerience. Sure... any excuse for AMD...
Installing it was a breeze. Just earth yourself first before you take it out of it's box, being very careful not to touch it anywhere but the sides. The motherboard itself has the socket with a lever, just lift up the lever and slide the processor pins into the socket and close the lever. You have to check for orientation as well or the pins could get really bent out of place. After inserting it into the socket, you'll need to install the heatsink/fan onto the processor, be sure to use a flathead screw driver because that would help you hook one of the ends into place on the motherboard. Plug the fan into the motherboard et voila! Installed Athlon! Now just boot up and adjust the speed in the BIOS. If I remember corrently, the AMD Athlon XP 3000+ runs at 2.167GHz. That's not surprising...

Advantages: Ability to print straight onto the surface of a CD Disadvantages: Front door flap for outgoing paper tends to bang down giving you the impression that it may break
...I had no idea printers these days had the ability to print as fast as this one does, until there was an IP3000 bought for Christmas. It seriously feels like as soon as you put the paper in, the printer has done its job and spat it out again! Fantastic!
I have noticed there is a higher model of this called the IP4000 which can print slightly faster. But if you ask me, an extra £30 purely to save an extra couple of seconds on print isn't worth it.
Heres why this printer is an amazing contraption:
^^^^ Features ^^^^
I suppose the most noticable function the IP3000 can perform is printing direct onto a CD surface. There is a CD drawer in which you simply insert a blank CD and away you go. Of course you would need blank faced CDs. The cheapest ones I managed to find were from PC World. They're Verbatim make and they cost £6...

Advantages: Incredible power and speed Disadvantages: High end of the price spectrum
..., and definitely strong enough a player to stay above and beyond expectations for at least a couple of years.
Plus, for all you gamers, this chip is your dream, and coupled with a great graphics chip (might i suggest the Tyan Tachyon G9600 Pro), anything is possible. Name any game, and the pair will run it without a problem.
There's not much left to say about the chip, so i'll conclude with a summarisation of just what you can expect from this chip. It's fast. very, very fast - and that's all that really matters in a CPU, and it'll do any job in a jiffy. As a side note, the general rule is that the faster things go, the hotter it'll run, so you will need to get a CPU fan and heatsink set for this if you don't already have one, though the XP3000+ sets (non O.E.M) come wth AMD's stock fan, which is up to the job.
As for installing the chip itself...

This is a great product, however I would not recommend it if you frequently use your laptop whilst travelling. I would however recommend this laptop to those who have laptops at home. This is a great way to store your laptop. I found it easy to attach more
