Garmin are a relatively new company when it comes to GPS (Global Positioning Systems), yet with this product the seem set to face up to competitors TomTom and the like. What is it? In a nutshell, this is a microSD (memory card) that slots in to your Windows Mobile, Palm, or Symbian phone; which in turn gives you a GPS navigation system at your fingertips. You need never get lost again - wherever you are in Europe. It also provides coverage where you wouldn't have normal phone signal - which means you have directions when you need them the most. In fact, you can even check for traffic, weather & CCTV cameras. The card itself is tiny, yet provides state-of-the-art 3D graphics on your handset. Garmin xt mobile A-OK highly recommended

Advantages: Cheap compared to standalone, removes the need for seperate sat nav
Disadvantages: No post code only search but this can be resolved with adding a house number of any house

lets the user select things like castles, petrol stations etc, very invaluable and works well. Recent finds - This option lets you navigate to an address previously navigated to. Google local search - This is by far the best extra feature, you can use the phones mobile internet to search google for extra things e.g Food & Drink, Fuel, Transportation, Lodging, Shopping, Bank, Parking, Entertainment, Recreation, Attractions, Hospital, Community, Auto services i.e Repair garages The second main menu option is view map, i use this with the free speed camera database and have it on during my journeys to to the right limits and avoid points. The program opens up really quickly and can lock on to satellites very quickly using A-gps, this uses the mobile phone masts to already get some gps co-ordinates, i would recommend keeping this on charge ...

Very good software that includes everything

Advantages: Clear map, useful features, shows alot of information
Disadvantages: Requires a good processor

I already have a PDA and so i decided to buy this software with the GPS receiver. I have only used it for a few outings, but so far it hasn't missed a beat. The map is very clear with very clear directions. It also keeps up with the pace of the car relatively well, so the screen isn't 50yards or so behind the cars location. It has some good features, such as you can program your home address, so you can simply click 'navigate to home' no matter where you are. There is also a favourites list, so comment destinations can be easily pulled up without having to re-enter the postcode. Also, in the bottom right of the screen it gives the estimated time of arrival, how many more miles is left of the journey, and how long the remainder of the journey will take.
