NBA Showtime both impresses and disappoints - it has some great multiplayer gameplay, is very easy to pick up, and has good flowing graphics. The sound effects are also vivid, the range of characters and teams wide, and the amount of extra fun options (for example, playing as an old man) are also huge. The moves that each character can pull are completely impossible (720 double windmill dunks etc.), but this adds to the fun of the game - it is not ... ...in multiplayer mode, and thus playing solely against the computer, it is very hard to succeed - as it is only two a side you can't really organize a solid defence and thus every time you lose the ball, the other team are likely to score. It also takes quite a time to load up, with a multititude of menu screens to go through before you actually reach the game.
All in all though, this is a great game to buy if you often play Dreamcast with family ... more

However, when not in multiplayer mode, and thus playing solely against the computer, it is very hard to succeed - as it is only two a side you can't really organize a solid defence and thus every time you lose the ball, the other team are likely to score. It also takes quite a time to load up, with a multititude of menu screens to go through before you actually reach the game. All in all though, this is a great game to buy if you often play Dreamcast with family or friends - you can have loads of fun with the extras, and it isn't hard for a newcomer to pick up. I found that after a couple of games my friends were evenly matched with me (although this may just be down to the fact that I suck at it), and there were some quite tense finishes. If you are mainly a solo player, though, this is not the game for you.

NBA Showtime is an excellent arcade basketball game. However, it"s flaws are clearly because of complete laziness on the part of the Midway development team. They absolutely put NO time into making it a better game. They just ported it over. There are NO ROOKIES! No E.Brand, no Lamar Odom and NO Steve Francis! How pathetic! If they weren"t going to spend any time making it better, they should have brought it out on the day the dreamcast was released! ...

...chance! It's a mix between NBA Jam and NFL Blitz, wut could b better? N Kobe Bryant NBA Courtside 1 the fouls r wimpy, but n this u can take high flying dunks, and if u r mad u can really take out your anger by committing a foul, not mentioning the sweet codes n this game.
