As I was in the process of moving again, and my old Broadband ISP (Bulldog)has proved to be unsatisfactory and unhelpful I was of a mind to change my ISP and NDO was recommended to me as an alternative.
My first port of call was the NDO website, where I learned that NDO started life as Netdirect Internet Ltd in 1995 in London since which it has grown and is available all over the country; it is now a fully resilient network. This is where I was able to find out the costs and types of the various packages available which started at £15.99 a month for lite usage.
I chose the Home 1000 Complete Package, which is a 1 mg line costing £32.99 a month.(Please see update on this as prices have now dropped considerably) This was a downgrade for me, from a 2Mg line, but it seemed from the information on the web site that with a speed of 1024/256 kbps (download/upload) this would be adequate for my needs.
It was at this stage I found that, unlike other ISPs you do not have to sign up for a years' contract unless you want to. You can choose from a monthly rolling contract, or a quarterly or yearly package. I was impressed by this as I am fed up with being tied for a year to ISPs that provide crap service and poor connectivity speed.
After reading the information on the web site I decided to call their Customer service line to make further enquiries. The 'phone was answered quickly and I was put in touch with an extremely nice lady named Sybil, who talked me through the different options and how to go about joining NDO. By the end of the phone call I had a user name and password sorted out and was feeling very confident about the change.
Notwithstanding BT then creating a host of problems with giving me a new phone line, Sybil rung me to let me know how things were progressing and once BT compatability had been established it took just one week to get my service set up and connected, (this compared to the three weeks and charges that Bulldog were quoting). The cost of setting up the line was £35 as I already have my own modem etc, but even that was cheaper than my previous ISP who charged me £85 for the same thing.
During that week I had several e.mails from NDO, which have to be opened using Adobe, each of which gave me current status details and also invoiced me for my first payment. One of these e.mails told me my service would be ready on 25 January and accordingly I had a further e.mail from them yesterday to say that the service was now active.
Today I moved into my new home, set up the computer and logged on. There was a slight hiccup with changing the settings, but again customer service answered promptly and dealt with my query quickly and efficiently and a few minutes later I was on line.
Another impressive thing for me is not only the speed with which the telephone is answered, but by the fact that the help desk is manned 24/7 and you are not left hanging on while the BT meter merrily racks up a huge bill.
The acid test for me is whether I would notice the downgrade to a 1 mg line and I have to say I have not noticed any difference whatsoever. Pages load quickly and seamlessly and I have not encountered any problem with the ISP working with Mozilla Firefox.
All in all I am extremely happy with all aspects of NDO and anticipate a long and happy association with them.

There are a range of ways of paying for the service, from monthly Direct Debits, through to a yearly charge.
Customer Services had suffered a little, with a long wait for calls to be answered, but this issue has now been resolved and calls are again answered quickly and efficiently - the help offered is as high a standard as you could wish for.
All in all I have no regrets about choosing this ISP over others and would still recommend them.
Advantages: None that I can find Disadvantages: Huge amounts of spam getting through!
I have been with NDO from the beginning on dial up, I have just checked my account and I have over 6000 spam messages, despite me setting up over a hundred filters.
The spam filtering process is very hit and miss, and very time consuming.
I do not think that NDO have got a grip of filtering out what is obviously spam, compared with my other ISP.
I think you can buy spam filtering, but why, when others include it!
I am very pleased with my other ...
