Nec = Never Even Consider it!

Advantages: Video camera and calling capability, good compared to other phones available
Disadvantages: Very big and bulky, a pain to use, generally not very good

~Introduction~ I have had the Nec e606 for about three months now. I previously had the Motorola a835, which decided to break so I needed to replace it. The problem is that I have a contract with 3 Mobile; I think you will all sigh at that, and that means that I can only put my sim card in a 3 Mobile telephone. As if that?s not bad enough, it has to be a contract and not a pre pay phone. This is probably about the most bearable phone available on the 3 network, so I decided to purchase one on the cheap from eBay. The phone itself was released when 3 mobile first came into being. It was, I suppose their flagship phone and also the phone by which all of its predecessors have been judged and marked against. It is still very up-to-date and technologically capable of remaining on an even footing with the new phones that companies ...

NEC = Not Exactly Clever

Advantages: Ipod-cool looks, bright screen, large buttons, long battery life
Disadvantages: No features, weak camera, poor menu selection and options

the photographs to your computer is to e-mail them with your i-Mode account... which costs you money. So far, then, it's not a very good phone despite the good looks. Admittedly O2 class it as their entry-level i-Mode phone but by today's standards, and compared to just about everything else on the market, it's incredibly lacking. How, then, does it stack up as a mobile phone? Well it's not bad, but it's not great, either. When you dial a number the digits are displayed large and clear on the bright screen and when you're connected the call quality is very good. You can hear and speak clearly with whomever you wish to chat and, thanks to O2's fairly broad coverage of the UK, it's rare that you find yourself unable to get a signal. Try and find somebody from the phonebook to call, though, and you could get in to a muddle. At first, the NEC ...

Life after Nokia - with the NEC 338

Advantages: Smart video phone | Didn't cost me anything
Disadvantages: Installed ringtones a tad quiet | Can only download from Three

I must have gadget freak written in some sort of secret code on my front door, that only salesmen can read. Not too long ago, a salesman from Three managed to read this hidden notice and knocked on the door ready to introduce me to the world of 3G telecommunications. Part of the deal he was offering me, was a very smart looking NEC 338, and of course being the techno-freak that I am, it took very little persuasion to get me to sign on the dotted line. Three days later and my new toy was delivered by Royal Mail, and I excitedly opened the box, to find : My new mobile phone, A battery A charger (that came in two parts) A headset A welcome pack from Three including my USIM card. ~~~The looks~~~ The 338 is a smart clamshell design, the main body of which is black, with the flip top being silver. Being from Three it has ...
