I am afraid I am not finding much time to be on Ciao these days but with a new puppy in the house I have some doggy related products to review from time to time.

I was tasked with finding a digital projector for work and it was left to me to source something reasonably priced that we could use for the occasional presentation. It didn't need to be flashy just something which would do the job and have a reasonable output.
I looked around various sites and ended up looking around the Misco site as I have used them in the past and been happy with their service and they do stock a fairly wide range. I found the NEC NP100A on there which is an SVGA Projector with 2000 ANSI lumens at a price of £249.99 (£287.49 inc VAT). It looked like it would fit the bill so I placed my order.
Out of the Box
I settled for next day delivery from Misco and the follwoing day it arrived as promised. It was well packed being securely located in the box by two large pieces of foam and came complete with the cord to connect it to the PC, a power cord and the instructions, nothing fancy just a basis projector.
The projector itself is in a white casing with a clear lens cover which is attached to the machine by a fine cord (great as hopefully that way it won't get lost). The remote control fits into a handy space on top of the projector so with any luck that will stay with the machine as well - and if I sound paranoid that is because when you have an office machine and other people use it it is very easy for things to go missing.
There was no carrying case for the projector but then perhaps you can't expect that at such a budget price and it was easily remedied by a trip to Tesco and the purchase of a simple padded laptop bag.
Bulb Type - 180 W (3500 hours normal / 4000 hours eco)
Power - 100 - 240VAC, 50/60Hz
Supported Resolutions - 1280 x 1024; 1152 x 870 (Mac 21"); 640 x 480 (VGA/Mac 13"); 1024 x 768 (XGA) compressed
Image Size - 0.7 - 7.69 m
Throw Ratio - 1.9 to 2.1
Projection Distance - 1.2 m - 12 m
Now I don't pretend to understand much of the above but from my perspective it was a relatively small machine which would make it easily portable and at 2.3 Kg it wasn't too heavy. The lamp life is reasonable especially in eco mode which should easily cope with the use we will give it.
In use
What can I say here? It was easy to set up and as soon as I had connected it to the PC it worked beautifully. On first start up it offered me a choice of language and this was easy to select using the remote control so I found the whole thing very intuitive.
Would I recommend it?
Yes I would if you are looking for a basic projector at a bargain price. It doesn't offer lots of fancy features but that wasn't what we were looking for. It is neat and easy to move around and it does a basic job - certainly worth a look if you are wanting a simple projector.

Gosh I hadn't realised that these things were so much cheaper now - seems like the last time I looked, they were into 4 figures. I wonder if the bulbs are now the major cost, like colour printers and their ink cartridges.
