Manufacturer's product description
Blue Chip Technology's Vario+ is the latest addition to the highly successful range of ultra compact, rugged and versatile PC system specifically designed for driving today's latest multimedia displays. Based on a highly integrated Pentium IV platform, Vario+ offers unparalleled performance, flexibility and expansion in this new form factor. Vario+ is based around the Intel 845G chipset, which with its Extreme Graphics technology provides best in class multimedia performance. This level of performance is sustained even in portrait mode (90 or 270 degrees rotation) enabling MPEG2 replay without expensive hardware or software add-ons. For those applications where specific video cards or other peripherals are required Vario+ provides both an AGP and PCI slot. This level of expansion in such a compact enclosure is unrivalled. Vario+ can be conveniently and securely fitted to the rear of most popular plasma or LCD displays. This approach can minimize mounting bracketry and cable runs to enable simple operation of the PC in restricted access installations. Multiple quiet fan cooling with internal temperature and power supply monitoring enhances the overall system reliability making the Vario+ ideally suited for continuous unattended 24/7 operation. Drivers and applications are available to allow remote monitoring of the Vario+ across LANs or the Internet. The complete system, which is manufactured to full ISO EN BS 9001 standards, is fully UL, CSA and CE marked and meets all relevant Health & Safety legislation and approvals. It is designed and manufactured by Blue Chip Technology to the same exacting standards as its ruggedized, market leading range of industrial PC's.

Advantages: Really good for multitasking. Great value Disadvantages: Cant clock it to 3 ghz without getting it really hot.
...Well this processor is nothing new really. It is pretty much the same thing as the amd 2700 chip. However it has a 512 cache. It is double that of p4s and other amd chips. Although it runs at 2.167 ghz it is faster than a 2.5 ghz p4. How cool is that. It can run most games fairly well. The only game it cant run smoothly is halo, even when I used a radeon 9800xt. However you can overclock it a bit to 2.5 ghz and it will run great.
Since it has the barton core like the amd 64 processor it will be able to run some 64 bit applications. I bought this processor because I was building a pc for myself. So far I have no problems. You can clock it to 3 ghz but you will need a better heatsink and a loud fan to keep it cool. I reccomend you only clock it 2.5 ghz max....

Advantages: Price, Performance Disadvantages: Single Core
...This chip is from AMD's last generation architecture using the 939 socket. Due to the new AM2 architecture being released, socket 939 chips have plummeted in price as they are no longer cutting edge. This means there are bargains to be had and this opteron is one of those chips.
Around 60 pounds buys you a single core 2Ghz processor which is nothing special. What you are not told is these chips actually use server grade silicon and have 1Mb level 2 cache as opposed to lesser grade silicon and 512Kb level 2 cache found in the desktop equivalent. This, in theory, should allow the chip to be overclocked more heavily and therefore perform much better.
At stock the chip is quick and performs well in games. However, this chip is not bought to run at stock its bought to be heavily overclocked. Loading up the chip into my pc, which uses...
