The first thing to point out is the low price.Although you may be disappointed with the lack of a Pentium Processor sticker, the Athlon XP-M gives a nice speed of 1.6Ghz in the c160.This matches similar Pentium-Ms, and to get the most from the Athlon simply expand the RAM from the basic 256Mb adding another 512Mb.This is said to be the most the processor can use effectively. The c160 also includes a dvd player which is a nice feature. And a half decent battery life. The screen is clear with a high resolution. It is easy to use and the keyboard is a pleasure to type on.The slidepad for the mouse, is controllable and fairly precise. There are 3 USB ports at the back of the laptop.Space for a wireless card (wlan card) to be fitted to enable wireless connection.
The laptop is cheap to upgrade. But if you're looking to buy a new laptop then I'd advise to buy one of the 1Gb laptops for around £300-£400 if you're looking for something basic, maybe for school or uni. The C160 is not built for gaming and will simply die under the graphic requirements. It is not a good idea to buy this if you are looking for a laptop to last you as, already at full upgrade it is behind the basic models of today.
However if you have one and are thinking of changing it, I'd advise looking into how cheap it is to upgrade.I found mine very cheap to upgrade and is doing okay for me at University. If memory is what you are looking for I'd advise you to look to upgrade again to a 5100rpm 80Gb HDD instead of replacing the 4800rpm 35Gb HDD. I also upgraded the HDD as it died from old age. I now run a Versa C160 Athlon XP-M 2200+ with 768Mb RAM and a 5100rpm 80Gb HDD.
In short. If you have one look into upgrading the HDD to 5100rpm 80Gb HDD. And adding the 512Mb RAM to give you 768Mb RAM total.
If you looking for a new laptop, look at another laptop. This is too old and not worth buying and upgrading.
