Advantages: Great community support, simple to use, cheap Disadvantages: Very noisy fan, Faster products available , blue lights (why o why)
This device comes in 3 ways.
no drive
500gb drive
1tb drive
Quite often Netgear are offering a FREE drive , so allways check out before you purchase.
Looks- the Design is black all the way round, its very slim and small with attractive blue lights to show if its on , and HD activity. (not recommended to be placed in a bedroom, unless u like a light show). Unfortunatly It is VERY LOUD, the fan on the back is large and makes quite abit of noise, especially on boot. While you could have it in your lounge hidden behind the TV you may find it too loud.
Usability- As with most netgear products they are designed for the Dummy to the expert, each process in the UI can be done via the funky wizard's and achived in mins to have setup. Or you can turn off the wizard and actully do some more technicall setup's lke addon's (nzb ...
Advantages: No problems with connection Disadvantages: None
I used modems supplied my my internet service provider and experienced problems with connectivity and drop out. In the end I got so sick of phoning the ISPs to report problems to be given the same twaddle (updating drivers etc.) that I went into my local branch of PC World and asked for their recommendation. The Netgear DG834G was the salesman's recommendation. It cost £50 and has been one of the better purchases I have made. My desk top PC and now my son's laptop use the same router and the wireless signal has never failed. We do not suffer from connectivity issues and trust the routers security to protect us from freeloaders and hackers. I would personally recommend this router type over those supplied by service providers. ...
Advantages: Good wireless range nice design Disadvantages: Can stop working for unknown resons
Well the The netgear DG834G is quite a stylish router compared to others. It is very handy for the average user and isnt that hard to install.
It has a great wireless range i can even use my laptop in the garden.
It has to be said it isnt the fastest router out there.
I have had a few prblems with mine it can lose connection sometimes but you just un-plug the router or 30-60 seconds and it should be fine again.I wouldnt recomend someone with no exsperience to set it up themself thoe as they could exsperience some problems.
It is very hands as it has 4 ethernet ports in the back.
I would deffinatley buy another netgear router.
But for a first timer i would get a friend or someone who is handy with computers to set it up for you. ...

Manufacturer's product description
The ReadyNAS Duo is perfect for homes with more than one computer. Unlike a USB drive, the ReadyNAS connects to the network and is simultaneously accessible via all connected Windows or Macintosh computers. If there is a broadband Internet connection and a home router, the ReadyNAS can be set up to provide secure access to all the stored files remotely via the Internet. For added protection of stored data, an optional second hard disk drive can be installed. The spare hard drive will keep an extra copy of all the data and instantly take over if the first hard drive should fail. Advanced media streaming support allows the ReadyNAS to directly serve media, with no PC required. Officially licensed BitTorrent client allows downloading to occur without the need for an additional computer. A web-based interface facilitates download management from computers, and a special NETGEAR digital entertainer interface allows management from the select NETGEAR device.
