"Avoid at all costs"

Nowadays when I look at my computer I am sickened to know that I invested in the NVidia Vanta. Choosing this over the trusty old TNT was a baad move.

'Based on TNT architecture'.
The first incarnation of the TNT outperforms this card like an RS Cosworth outperforms a Ford Fiesta. In 3DMark2001 it barely outperformed my old Voodoo1 which I was not pleased about. The card I paid £45 for has only marginally boosted the performance of my games. The only acceptable improvement is that it runs reasonably well in Half-Life OpenGL mode (after some tweaking).

I seriously would recommend any prospective buyers to look elsewhere - a rubbish skip even - before resorting to the NVidia Vanta. I looked on their website - 'Ideal for the budget entry-level user' - surely the entry-level user would look to find an old, industry accepted, TNT1 whereas the higher end user would seek the TNT2 then the Geforce chips? In my opinion the performance of the TNT architecture has been too severely cut down to be vcalue for your money, and I can't see any scenario in which this card should be chosen over other, better value for money 3d graphics cards.
