As a busy mum, I tend not to have time for long bubble baths so I find myself dashing in and out of the shower in record time. However for Christmas, friends and family always seem to buy me “little treat” and one of my aunties always puts together a hamper of items I can pamper myself with and spend time “on myself!”. One of the items in my Christmas 2010 hamper was the N-Spa Lemon Soufflé Bath and Shower Gel
***N-Spa Lemon Soufflé Bath and Shower Gel***
The description of the N-Spa Lemon Soufflé Bath and Shower Gel is “Give a girl a lemon,” said the wise man “and she will add some sugar and make you the sweetest of lemonade and should you bathe in the zest of this most playful of fruits then be prepared to emerge from the water unavoidably and deliciously edible”
The product is a bright yellow Sicilian lemon scented bath and shower gel. The product can be used as a shower gel and scrub and used on damp skin to leave it silky smooth with a scent of lemon. Or it can be used in a bath as a bubble bath and when poured under a tap will give you a energising bath soak with lots of bubbles.
A 500ml bottle of the N-Spa Lemon Soufflé Bath and Shower Gel costs £2.00 in Asda. I think this is very good value compared to other bath and shower gel products which cost slightly more for such a big quantity.
The product comes in a large 500ml clear plastic bottle. This has black font on the front of the bottle describing the product. You can see the bath gel inside of the bottle which is a bright yellow colour and looks very appealing. The bottle has a black flip top lid which when you squeeze the bottle the product comes out. Personally as a bath gel this is fine but as a shower gel I feel the bottle is too bulky and awkward to use in the shower. Firstly the bottle is quite wide (about 8cm in diameter) which does not fit easily on the shower shelf in my shower cubicle. Secondly with wet hands the bottle is quite heavy to hold onto when you are trying to dispense the shower gel.
***Using It***
Although I tend to not take a bath and usually have a shower, there are occasions when I find myself inclined to take 30 minutes to have a long bubble bath where I can relax. On the rare occasions I do take a bath, I like the bath products I use to have a pleasant relaxing scent that leaves my skin feeling soft and smelling great.
The first few times I used this product was in my bath. As I was filling my bath up I poured some of the N-Spa Lemon Soufflé Bath and Shower Gel into the flow of hot water. I probably put around a cap full of product under the tap. The product is bright yellow but as soon as I put it into the bath it dissolved clear. As the bath was filling I noticed there were not enough bubbles so I added around another 3 cap full of the product into the bath. Unlike the first time I poured the lemon soufflé gel into the bath this time the product just sat in greasy yellow blobs on top of the water and I had to mix it around quite a lot with my hand until it dissolved and created more bubbles.
Once the bath was filled I did think the bath had a lot of fluffy bubbles inside and mixed with the hot water the bathroom was invited with a lovely sweet lemon scent. This is zesty but not a bitter lemon scent (like a washing up liquid scent is) and is very sweet and inviting.
As a bath gel this is a lovely fresh scented bath product although I do not think it has the relaxing and unwinding properties and scent that a lot of bath gels do. I feel that this is because the scent is so fresh, fruity and sweet it is quite awakening and energising. Mr Lools commented that he really liked it in the bath because it is not “girly and sickly”. After bathing in a bath full of this product I did feel my skin had a nice soft clean feel without it feeling very greasy. I do not feel my skin felt as soft and smooth as it could have done therefore I would not describe this to have moisturising properties as a bath product. The scent on my skin was very light and it had a slight sweetness but I do not feel it left a long lasting scent on my skin. My main criticism is a bath gel is the bubbles created by the product are long lasting and take a long time to clean out of the bath. Even swilling the bath out with cold water you still find lots of these bubbles still in the bath and it has taken me 10 minutes to clean my bath out fully. Therefore my advice if using this in the bath is to use sparingly to minimise this issue.
I have mainly used this product as a shower gel and feel that it is similar to the lemon Original Source shower gel although I do prefer the Original Source version. The shower gel is a bright yellow colour and has a very silky feel as you apply it to your skin. I do feel it is slightly runny which means you use more than a normal shower gel because it slips out of your hands as you apply and also a lot is squirted out of the bottle. As you apply it in the shower it is best to stay away from the flow of water as it washes the gel away too quickly. As you apply it to your skin it spreads well but does not create much of a lather on your skin. As you apply and wash off there is a very strong sweet scent of lemons and citrus but maybe not as zesty as the lemon Original Source shower gel. Once you come to dry yourself I do feel that the N-Spa Lemon Soufflé Bath and Shower Gel leaves my skin feeling very soft and silky and very clean feeling but I was disappointed that the lovely sweet lemon scent I could smell in the shower could not really be smelt on my skin. Even after sniffing my skin I could only very slightly smell lemon on my skin. When I asked Mr Lools to see what he thought my skin smelt like he responded he couldn’t smell anything.
***Overall***
This is a very nice fresh lemon scent both as a bubble bath and as a shower gel. The scent is sweet but not too feminine making it have unisex appeal. The scent is very fresh and fruity but as a shower gel although it leaves skin soft, the lovely lemon scent is not long lasting and after showing you can’t smell it on your skin like you can with other lemon shower gels (i.e Original Source).
For £2.00 this is excellent value and is a very versatile product as you can use as a shower gel or as a bubble bath which is great for someone like me who tries to achieve a minimal look when it comes to products on display in my bathroom.
Not as good as Original Source but still worth a try.
