I purchased a packet of nairns cheese oatcakes in my local holland and barrett store for around £1.10, believing that this would offer a healthy alternative to my usual savoury treat of cheese straws (I'm partial to the odd cheese snack)
The oatcakes are reasonably healthy, but don't be fooled by the fact they can be purchased in a health food store - they still contain a relatively high amount of fat (1 oatcake = 2.6g fat, 42 calories) ... .../>
They come is a plastic packet inside the cardboard box packaging, so when you open them they are really fresh. There is a really strong smell of cheese upon opening too. The oatcakes themself are pretty thin and round in shape. They taste really cheesy (and, unsurprisingly, oaty!)
I prefer to eat these as they come, on the go, but they can be dry that way, so a little margarine on top can work wonders. These did satisfy ... more

These did satisfy my cheese cravings but, I find that one or two isn't enough and often eat 3 or 4 in a sitting, which probably isn't so good when you look at the fat content! Overall, these are handy to have in the house for snacking but I wouldn't recommend them for regular eating.

On a recent trip to Tescos straight after work I was feeling peckish so headed over to the crisps and biscuits section. I was looking for something on the 'healthier side' so went for Nairn's cheese oatcakes, which were on offer at 84p at the time (they're normally £1.19). This was not the first time I'd bought these - I've been buying oatcakes for several years, although not on a regular basis. I find them really handy to have in my bag when out ... ...have to buy snacks. Incidently Nairn's also do oatcakes in other varieties, both sweet (two varieties - mixed fruit and ginger) and non-sweet (rough, finely milled, herb and pumpkin seed), all of which I've tried at some point. The other 'savoury' oatcakes are a bit plain on their own and really need something to go with them so I went for the cheese ones which I knew tasted nice on their own. A great product which also comes in fine milled, cheese and organic recipes too although I haven?t seen these around personally.
