Nandos Peri Peri sauce is served with food within the restaurant chain of Nandos which has many outlets nationwide. Nandos is a portuguese origin restaurant which sells predominantly chicken on its menu, there is only one steak option which is a prago steak wrap, so if you are not a fan of chicken i believe nandos isn't for you.

When in the restaurant one can opt to have their chicken glazed with the sauce when it is cooked on the flaming grill or there are sauces in bottles available to pour onto your chicken when it arrives at your table. The bottle is akin to a bottle of any condiment, you can pour as much or as little as you want.

The Peri-Peri Sauce itself comes in a variety of spices which are all available within nandos restaurants themselves. The six sauces which are available are wild herb, garlic, extra hot, hot, medium and sweet. For my palate personally i can only manage the medium sauce as it is very spicy and i would recommend a drink while eating this as it can burn your mouth. The word peri-peri itself translates as pepper-pepper, peri-peri itself is a chilli and is traditionally used to spice many dishes not just chicken dishes.

The ingredients of the sauces are,
water, vinegar, lemon puree, salt, onion pieces, black pepper, cayenne pepper, peri-peri chillies, sunflower oil, garlic pieces, xanthum gum and guar gum. With the exception of the medium sauce containing parsley, also with the variation of chillies put in the sauces according to the flavour.

On the nandos website it claims that peri-peri is used in many different countries for medical purposes such as stomach ache, acne and many more. (www.nandos.co.uk)

With the success of the nandos range of sauce within their restauraunts they have now launched their range within many supermarkets such as tesco and asda but with each supermarket the range of peri-peri sauce they stock may differ. So, i would recommend to buy the sauce from the restauraunt itself as they have a larger range, and one can also buy the sauces, marinades and table sauces on the nandos website. The price of the sauce may vary within the supermarket but currently it is £1.35 for the hot and medium sauces and £1.45 for the other varieties within the restauraunt. For this price you get a 125 ml bottle.

Overall i think that this sauce adds a wonderful touch to a chicken dish and it gives it lots of taste, the only downside is if you don't like spicy sauces then this isn't for you. Go to nandos or create your own dishes for the wonderful peri-peri sauce and i can guarentee you'll love it!

Love this stuff, the garlic one is quite nice. I go in Nandos quite often and have noticed that their sauces have gone much stronger recently. This has put me off a bit.
