Wonderful stay
Review of San Francesco al Monte Hotel, Naples by
Hema19
Advantages: Beautiful views of naples bay and mount vesuvius, historical building, excellent rooms and restaurant
Disadvantages: 10 mins away from main city centre
II went their with my boyfriend on 18th Jan 06 for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The room we were given had a huge terrace, which was actually bigger than the room itself! This included 2 sunloungers and 2 chairs and a table. The room and hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant one night and it was the best meal we had in Naples. The food was very high quality and very beautifully presented.
... ...has a lot of the original features due to it being a listed building. The hotel was originally built by digging into the mountain and this is apparent in some staircases and rooms that have been preserved. The hotel has an outdoor pool on the seventh floor with mouth gasping views.
The centre of Naples is about 10mins away, you will need to walk 5 minutes from the hotel to the funicular station, the main shopping street is a the next stop, which ...

SEE NAPLES AND DIE...almost
Review of Holiday Inn, Naples by
proxam
Advantages: Convenient for Pompeii
Disadvantages: AC? What AC? Room was like an oven.
...Naples it was. The Holiday Inn looked perfect for our needs - on the edge of the city towards Pompei and easy access from the autostrade. When I say easy access, I mean 'in theory'...on a map...in my wildest dreams etc. The Holiday Inn is situated in a modern development of high-rise offices and commercial properties called Centro Direzionale directly connected to a link road from the A1 autostrade. But, this being Naples, where stock car racing ... ...I've ever encountered in a Holiday Inn - it's usually the one reliable feature of this chain. While it wasn't exactly blowing hot air, it certainly wasn't blowing cold. Still, we could always open the window and let whatever breeze there was reduce the temperature to a more manageable 300 C. Only one problem with this plan, the absolutely filthy windows didn't open - maybe that's why they hadn't been cleaned in 20 years. Sigh. At least the hotel ...

Review of Holiday Inn, Naples by
lazza123
Advantages: Comfortable, good food
Disadvantages: None
...try to stay in the Holiday Inn chain of hotels, you always know what you are getting - and I get points to allow free stays!!
*** What is it? ***
The Holiday Inn is a one of the bigger hotel chains in the World, with a presence on all continents. The Holiday Inn hotels are owned by Three Continents Hotel group.
This hotel has 330 large rooms, including 32 suites, and 26 executive rooms, there are two restaurants, a bar. There are conference ... ...it? ***
The Holiday Inn Naples is situated in the heart of the financial/business district - well I must be truthful here, it is the last building! But with development plans going ahead, the old areas past this hotel will soon be developed.

Not quite 5-star
Review of Il Moresco Grand Hotel And Spa by
Yelena
Advantages: restaurant, pools, garden
Disadvantages: house-keeping, expensive.
I stayed in the Il Moresco Hotel for a week in September 2005. It's a 5 star hotel on the island of Ischia and is located about 5 minutes' walk from the coast. Check-in was fairly easy, they found our booking reference, gave us the keys and saw us to our room, showing the facilities on the way.
Our room was not particularly large - two beds, two bedside tables, a table, satellite TV, a couple of chairs and a dressing room. The bathroom was fairly ... ...they failed to restock toilet paper twice in a week! What I also found weird is that the switch and sockets were in the bathroom itself which was potentially unsafe to use. Do Italians have different safety regulations? They also forgot to restock the mini-bar. Beds were changed daily and were quite comfortable. The room had air-conditioning, which, however, failed once. It was fixed immediately though. The terrace with some sun-lounges was a nice ...

Almost Ideal!
Review of Hotel Ideal, Naples by
fizzytom
Advantages: Great location, cheap
Disadvantages: No air-con, noise from traffic and cleaners
...pages of websites, eventually finding Hotel Ideal. True to its name it did sound like a very good option - close to the city's main bus and train stations, near to Naples' main shopping area and only a short walk away from the sea; the price was reasonable and it did have a double room available for a whole week on our required dates.
On arriving we found the hotel to be situated on what is perhaps the city's busiest and noisiest roundabout. Italian ... ...The entrance to the hotel is clean and bright, the staff friendly and helpful. Going up to the rooms, its reminiscent of those Parisian hotels which have high, narow stairways and rooms leading off suddenly without much room to pass.
We found our room to be clean, well decorated and comfortable with an adequately sized ensuite with shower rather than bath (which, of course is the norm in such establishments). There was plenty of storage space so ...
