I am a Director of a small investment company and have suffered all the traumas and problems of running a small business for nearly thirty years.
Book keeping, banking, filling in forms for this and that, filing company returns and all the negative issues of running a business have been made a lot easier by the introduction of “On Line Banking”. I have been a customer of Natwest for many years and this is the best service that they have ever provided for my company. It is quite possible that a younger person would not be quite so impressed with the system as I am, it’s the Industrial revolution all over again for me.
I can access details of the Company accounts and credit cards from any computer connected to the Internet and that means that I have up to date information on balances anywhere and at any time. The only time I have to visit the bank is to pay in or withdraw cash, and as most of my dealings are by cheque, visits to the bank are infrequent. Cheques received are paid in by post. The system is a revolution in banking administration and a pleasure to operate. I can prepare cash flows at the beginning of a month and formulate payments well in advance and inline with income. My creditors are delighted with the system as payments are now made on a regular basis and don’t have to wait until I have time to sit down a draw cheques. Standing orders and Direct Debits can be set up from the desk top. Simple actions on the keyboard facilitate alterations to any payments or payment instructions. It is now possible to view six months banking at a glance, far more easy that taking out files and searching through nine or ten pages of statements.
As far as security is concerned I would say that it is pretty good, as there are several levels of security before entry is gained. When I first entered the system I found it to be very slow and tedious but now I have changed to an ADSL connection the access and downloading is fast. The only complaints that I have heard relate to slow entry and downloading, if you can afford it change to ADSL and all will be well. NatWest have a helpline for problem solving and I have always found the operators to be extremely helpful and polite. Overall I am delighted with the system and enjoy using it, well done NatWest.
