The staff were usually polite, however seemed to lack expertise in what they were trying to fix. Seeing them working on my car with a 'Brakes - a training guide' book with them did make me nervous.

Not good I'm afraid.

As well as this they struggled to stick to estimates. I was told 'roughly' £150 for the initial work which when exactly worked out turned into £161, fair enough I thought. When I had the bill it was £210 + £40 as they waiting for another part.

Advantages: a good selection of tyres Disadvantages: high price, waiting time, staff memebers
...even half the price.
National tyres I had never tried before I had used a number of other tyre suppliers to compare with these so I thought I would try them.
What a mistake, I went on a saturday morning, mistake two they were quite busy and I was accomadating unlike the staff therEe.
I suggested they give me an appointment time for a week day the following week, but the member of staff snapped we can fit you in if your patient.
Er I was trying ... ...I won't be using National again I wouldn't go back to a place where the customer is treated badly snapped at and the hard sell is tried to make an extra buck.
The customer is always right I have no complaints with the tyres it is the service I recieved which wasn't upto scratch.
Therfore I dont recomend this tyre shop at all unless you want a stressfull time spending a large sum of money. ...

Quick review of National Tyres
I purchased two tyres for my 80 year old father via Tyre Shopper for £40x2 = £80.
These were supplied and fitted by National Tyres, when he arrived at the fitting centre National Tyres told him he needed two additional tyres, for which they charged him £144 this included unwanted tyre guarantees.
National Tyres follow the Hard Sales approach and do not have much in the way of supporting any ethical policy in their selling methods.
I would use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone. ...

Advantages: great phone customer service Disadvantages: doesnt back up its company promises
...friend then decided to ring National tyres (because it was nearer to him) and got a quote for £58.50 . My friend then mentioned the price promise National Tyres were promising, the promise basically promises to beat any other supplier and refund a pound to the customer if the offer somewhere else is better. The operator told my friend that was the best price he could do. Whats the point of a promise to match when you dont ? ...

Advantages: Fast, Friendly and Great Value Disadvantages: None I can Think Of!
www.etyres.co.uk A simple service that a stumbled upon when looking to buy new tyres for my motor.
As it usaully happens, following a recent trip to the garage I was informed that I had a slow puncture in one rear tyre and the other was 'Getting Close' (garage speak, for 'We will fleece you for a new tyre')
Not content with simply taking the garages offer to do it for me I decided to search the intenet for a cheaper option. I was searching for two tyres, nothing special or sporty just 2 common tyres.
I searched Kwik-Fit, NationalTyres, black Cicles to name just 3 all of which supplied quotes from £100 to £350! for similar makes and service.
Now im not a car buff and know very little about tyres, so was determined to go with a make that I had heard of.
I finally stumbled blindly, thanks to Google, accross Etyres ...

Advantages: Quick Disadvantages: Everything else about them
ATS Euromaster are your typical Tyres, Brakes and Exhausts chains, running up and down the country. They are situated in most big towns and seem to be running alongside quick fit in popularity, however good or bad that is.
I have only visited ATS once, and probably will never do again, unless I’m in desperate need of a Tyre quickly, but I won’t bother taking their advice on my car! You see, ATS tried to con me out of some of my money, something which I don’t really like someone doing to me!
I needed a Tyre, just for one of the back wheels. I had already gone to NationalTyres, and they had quoted me £39 for a budget tyre. (I don’t really want a super tyre for the back, my front wheels do all the work, and I have better tyres on the front). So, I went to ATS to see if they could do a budget tyre any cheaper ...
Advantages: They come to your door and more FREE Puncture repair too Disadvantages: some areas are not covered by their service yet
the cheapest remould to the most expensive sports tyre. There are filters that can be applied, though the easiest view is to filter by price.
What's the difference?
Well balancing, valves and fitting are already incorporated in the price so the first value you see is the actual price you pay unlike some of the High Street branches. Where there are the added extras of those mentioned above and things like overheads for premises and disposal of tyre carcass.
Even more incentive, I recently had the miss fortune of having a puncture in one of my new tyres. I did the usual thing and asked round the big four National, Kwik Fit, Halfords and Bathwick tyres. All wanted between £15 and a staggering £29 just to repair a puncture on some cars I could have almost bought a replacement tyre.
By chance I was looking through the Etyres website ...
