My application for the NatWest mastercard for students was rejected because I have not met their lending criteria (or so they say). It's a complete double standard on their part as my other friends who applied for the same card but with lower credit balance in their accounts as compared to mine was approved of their application. Initially I was thinking of getting a credit card for all my online transaction, so I think now it's a thought in the future. Besides, now I can use direct debit to pay for my online transaction, though limited, but I rather do this than having a credit card, even if NatWest beg me to have the credit card.

When I went to University I got credit cards without any problem - and the mistake of using them. My Brother started in October and was turned down for a credit card by Natwest, without even applying for the credit card! He has now applied for a copy of his credit file from Experian to see if that shows why...
