Well, for a start, i bank with Natwest and they are brilliant. Their range of services and products is fantastic, their online banking is great and they are always willing to help me. So naturally i decided to get thier visa card, which was the first credit card i had.
Looking at it now, after trying several different credit cards, it's not quite so impressive. Thier interest rate is 14.9% on purchases which is way higher than my other credit cards. Cash advances are also pretty expensive, they charge you 3% of what you withdraw out of a machine/from the bank, with a minimum fee of £1.50 and the interest rate is 16.9%.
Then there is thier loyalty scheme, which always attracts me to crdit cards, which is air miles. Now you have to spend a whole £20.00 to earn 1 air mile, which doesn't sound all that bad, after all you are getting something for nothing, but considering a flight to Paris is the basic package and that starts at 450 air miles. That means (hang on let me do my sums here) you would have to spend £9,000 just to go for the basic flight to Paris!!!!! Unless you collect air miles elsewhere (sainsburys, shell) you would have to be a very BIG spender. And i am sure before i spent that £9,000 i would of gone to the travel agents and bought a holiday anyway.
So after i realised this i swapped my credit card for an EGG card which is a whole lot better (oh and i just happened to of written an opinion on this one folks).
So i would not advise you to apply for a Natwest visa card because there are far better value credit cards than this one
