A card which isn't keen to let you pay them back 35 of 39 Ciao Users found the following review helpful

Advantages none

Disadvantages poor training in customer service department

There isn't much I can usually say to distinguish one type of credit card from another.

This card wasn't the highest interest card when I was shopping around for a card, and it was probably one of the ones with the lowest interest rate that I was allowed.

Try getting rid of the card and getting a final account balance to pay it off I found extremely difficult. I have been a Natwest Customer for over 15 years, so had no hesitation at the time applying for a card from a bank that has given me a reasonable service over the years. However the problem that occurs with getting a credit card from the same bank as your other services, does not necessarily mean that the different departments talk to each other, and when my wife and I got a loan for home improvement and debt consolidation, and had thousands of pounds sitting in a personal account doing nothing while card debts were incurring interest, all we wanted to do was get final balances off all cards over the phone (including this one from Natwest) and pay them off there and then, and not even our personal branch could get involved with the Credit Card department when we sought help.

Initially nobody on the card telephone line printed on the back of the card knew how to give a final balance. Instead advisors promised to send updated statements which never arrived, and we incurred late payment charges (which were later revoked with a further letter of complaint) and only with a lot of questioning and shouting from my wife did one advisor give us the number for the account closue department, and even they couldn't give a final balance over the phone. There is still an ongoing issue that we owe interest on this card that wouldn't have been owed if we had been able to get a final account balance and pay in full on the phone.

I guess Natwest you're either lucky or not with Natwest. Sorry to hear about your experience.
