Navman have got it right in so many ways. There are a few grumbles I have but overall they have done very well.
Are you looking to get the best Sat Nav system on the market with all the bells and whistles on it? No. Neither was I. To be honest what I needed was a basic system to tell me to turn at the correct point to ensure that I did not spend time getting lost and swearing loudly at anything and everyone.
After browsing the net for a few days I found that I could get the 320i for just over £150 delivered. That to me seemed like very good value so I clicked away and got the system a few days later.
The manual that came with it is quite poor to be honest. But within 10 mins I had plugged all the various bits in and waited to get signal to tell me where I was. Warning - First time you turn it on be in a area with no large buildings etc, it takes a few minutes to locate the satelites (up to 10). Once it has them locked it will not take as long the next time you turn it on. Be sure to be sat in the same place though as that ensures you pick up the signal quicker.
The screen is clear and so are the instructions. There is no touch screen. But to be honest that is good. Touchscreens are overrated, easy to break and not needed for this device.
The address system is easy to work and you can store 'Home' and favourite journeys which is good.
Battery life is my major grumble. When not plugged into the in Car Charger I estimate the life of the battery to be around 3 hours... Any long distance therefore means you better have the charger to hand (or a paper based map!).
All in all the system is good. I have used it a few times and have got to my location in good time.
ADDED : Accuracy... I've been asked to add something about accuracy. So here it is... On the main part very good. I have used it to travel to various locations in Yorkshire, Cumbria and Midlands. It found them all well. However when I asked it to find something about 5 miles down the road it got very confused. I think that this was down to not having a post code. When I've used the post code it has been spot on every time.
TIP - Don't buy the home charger as it is about £25 - instead buy a AC/DC convertor for the car charger that you get free. You can pick one up for about £10!
