The memory card has all the UK roads and some other European country's major roads installed, although any new roads that have just been built might not appear on the map. I found this out when driving on a new road in Essex, I looked on the GPS display map it looked like farmers fields no roads were displayed at all. You will have to plug you GPS in to your computer with the USB lead and download an update of roads on the Navman web site.
This ICN 510 comes with an in car holder which can be easily transferred car to car, also battery charger and in car battery charge which plugs in to your cigarette lighter. A leather case and a USB lead that you can use to connect to you PC and use the smart ST desktop editor to plan routes and get updates.
Because I was a self-employed bricklayer/general builder I had to work all over Essex & Suffolk and most of the time the jobs would be in old houses & land in the middle of nowhere, down country lanes which are a nightmare navigating. All the sign posts were either covered in moss or trees in the way so with the help of my GPS, I just put in the postcode, the name of road and I was away, no maps and always there on time.
A route can be planned simply by inputting the address using a touch screen keyboard or using the stylus pen. You can also put in a postcode but it only uses 5 characters so will only give you a vague area. Using the trip planer you can add stop points on your journey.
There are also points of interest which display icons on the map i.e.
Petrol Stations.
Banks.
Accommodation.
Amenities.
Automotive facilities.
Buildings and monuments.
Entertainment.
Financial services.
Food and drink.
Medical services.
Shopping.
Sports facilities.
Tourist attractions.
Transport. Airports, Train stations E.S.T.
Institutions.
But that's not it you can also add your own.
The directions it gives are good but when coming up to big heavy junctions and where roads merge in and out of each other it does get confusing on where you are so I would stay clear of spaghetti junction if I was you. A good feature is if you miss a turning it will re-route you back on track.
You can also change the route settings from the quickest or the shortest distance. Preference for freeways less often or more often
Features:
Major European road networks.
Detailed street level navigation.
Variable 3D map perspective with a great colour map.
Multiple navigation views, mini maps, 3D views, instruction list, next turn
Customizable routing options.
Unique high level topographical-style map perspective.
So this ICN 510 is great for getting to work, going on holiday or walking about a town your not sure of, it's helped me a lot.
Advantages: Ease of Use, portability Disadvantages: none
I have owned a Navman ICN 510 for over 6 months and have had no problems.
I have used it in the United States and in the uk without any problems at all
I would recommend this item to anyone for the money.
You can carry it around in your pocket whilst walking around which saves it being stolen from your car and you can even use it to find your favourite shop / restaurant when the wife drags you out shopping.
The on board GPS is good and therefore ...

This Sat Nav is a lovely looking kit. it is sleek and the buttons are well placed and are of good quality. The screen is extremely clear and large. It is also nice and robust
Initial startup requires the SD card to be inserted and then the Maps loaded, this takes moments - new maps and upgrades are available from the Navman website - excellent!
To find a destination, the postcode entry screen takes a little time to load but then you can quickly and easily find your destination through several menus.
It calculates routes extremely quickly and options such as motorway route, speed/distance options mean multiple routes can be found
the Navman voice isn't too annoying. if you take a wrong turn or choose to go a different way the Navman recalculates quite quickly. Its very accurate for your position and has only once got confused ...
Advantages: portable, small size, rechargable battery Disadvantages: price, bulky antenna, slow to find position
If your sense of direction is as bad as mine, then you will find GPS a godsend! This is my second GPS unit (it suffered the same fate as many of my phones, i accidentally sat on it!). I brought the ICN510 for around £360 from ebuyer.com
General use:
------------------
The screen is a fair size, and is nice and bright. The screen is touchscreen, making it very easy to use, the stylus is neatly stored in the righthand side of the unit, just like a PDA. Unfortunatly to use GPS, you must lift up the antenna, this is quite a large antenna, it will not fit into my shirt pocket unless i first shut up the antenna.
The GPS will give you directions as you move about, you can press the page button to get a detailed view of the next turn this is very useful to correctly identify which exit to take from complicated roundabouts.
The GPS has ...
