Advantages: Transferable vehicle to vehicle Disadvantages: Sold with out of date software, Navman support is the worst ever.

I contacted Navman, Smartst Version 3 will cost you another £80, I protested ... ...more again.
I contacted Navman several times regarding the above matter, I also questioned how they can sell smartst version 3 software for the ICN 620 model for £20 yet they were charging £80 for the same software for the ICN 630 series. (I read on a forum the ICN 620 was much cheaper as it was riddled with bugs).
Anyway after contacting them several times they agreed to sell me the upgraded software for £45 and someone from their ... more

I contacted Navman, Smartst Version 3 will cost you another £80, I protested at the aditional charge as there is no details on the packaging warning of additional charges for upgraded software. Lets face it if you purchase a new PC you would expect Windows XP installed not 98. And be warned £80 is for one country only!, more areas cost more again. I contacted Navman several times regarding the above matter, I also questioned how they can sell smartst version 3 software for the ICN 620 model for £20 yet they were charging £80 for the same software for the ICN 630 series. (I read on a forum the ICN 620 was much cheaper as it was riddled with bugs). Navmans online sales team never contacted be despite sending them several e-mails. I sold the unit on e-bay at a loss and bought a TomTom instead (in my opinion its better anyway). Buy a Navman at your own peril, but don't say I didn't warn you. Navman SUCKS!

Quick review of Navman ICN 630
I bought a Navman ICN 630 V2 just over two years ago it cost over £700. I recently tried to update the maps and software to V3 but Navman now state this unit is obsolete and no upgrade is available in any form! After complaing to Navman they offered to sell me an F40 model (for a higher price than they are available on the high street) but only if I sent them my old ICN630 back to them! Needless to say I told them what they could do.
Dont ever buy a Navman, the service is rubbish. I bought a Sony NVU-51 (UK & N/France) for not much more than the Navman updated maps would have been, if they were available. ...

The Navman 630 V2 was purchased in July, 2004, cost was a little under
£900. I have used this unit in the u.k, also in europe. I have found it to be pretty reliable in getting you to your destinations. What it is not able to all ways do is, find destinations by post codes, like anything else that you buy electronically it, is never 100% perfect. I liked the images on the 3.8"
screen, they were in most cases very good although, in bright sunlight ... ...Navman is this, and what a gripe. Having paid almost £900 not quite three years ago, I find out that this Navman 630 V2 is obsolete and that there is no upgrade software,
ie,V3 or SmartST 2005 or maps available. What a con. No doubt if, they keep software downloads available they perhaps wouldn't sell quite so many new units. I am in the market now for a new sat/nav and I can tell you it will NOT, be a, NAVMAN. ...
