Navman S90i - A good Sat Nav choice

Advantages Screen size, visability, ease of use, accurate routes
Disadvantages Slow to recalculate
To sum up in a sentance - I would buy this again.
I previously had a Garmin product which worked very well, but eventuall gave up on me. This forced the purchase of a new model which must have European mapping. The S90i has that and a few other bits and so far has not sent me to any daft routes. I use the unit most weeks and have also used the traffic master service on it as well.Look & Feel
The units is quite wide and the large screen is well presented, clear and easy to navigate through. It has enough configurations for me including colour schemes and night modes. It feels solid and the screen mounting is stable with no vibration - it stays stuck unlike my Garmin one. The screen menus were initially quite slow to respond (annoyingly so), but having updated it via the easy to usedesktop sw it is only slow on the first selection after a hard reboot (like disconnecting from the PC). The rest of the time it is fine.Routing
Well this is why I bought it - so far so good. It is a little slower than my old Garmin in calculating the route, but I can live with that since the route is actually a little better - seems to stick to A roads more and you can adjust your motorway preferences via a slider. That way it allows a more refined route with out having to say 'no' to motorways altogether.Driving as you would expect the screen updates OK - nothing special but seems to keep up with my driving and headings. I like the addition of an icon for the next turn too - something Garmin do not do (Tom Tom do though). The voices are clear and speak road names which can be helpfull when just looking at the signs. (a bit annoying it says 'a' not capital A for the A6 for example !
The screen is also quite visable in sunlight for the one day a year you need that. Responds to firm presses rather than a light touch - sometimes have to press an hold but not often.Rerouting seems to annoy the unit as it takes a little while to stop nagging to do a U Turn - but once it gets past its hang up then it re-routes just fine (although mine seems to do it sporadically on very long trips - not an issue as sometimes it speeds things up so may be on purpose !).
I have also no found any map issues as yet so the base quality seems OK.The unit says traffic enabled and it is - so long as you are on a min route. The TMC signal is not their product but the unit does seem to get it more than it misses it - I travel M1 / M6 / M60's and rarely loose signal. It has helped me avoid a good few issues on the motorway network but I wouldn't rate it for minor routes. Good enough for longer journeys though.
Overall this is a good unit, not wihtout faults but it does its job well and reliably.
