I purchased these Nicky Clarke hair straighteners for my sister a couple of Christmases ago, as she asked for them and they were on offer (under £30) out of Boots. She said they were the best hair straighteners that she has - and she's always using hair straighteners on her hair.
I decided then that it was time to start looking after my own hair and I bought myself a pair. They have been the best investment I have ever made.
There is an indicator light which shows you that they are on. There is also a number indicator (1-9) for the heat range it can go to. I usually have mine between 4 and 5 and spend 10- 15 minutes on my hair every morning.
They are light, and glide through the hair quite easily (I was always put off with hair straighteners before thinking that they would hurt my hair!). They are also not too bulky so are quite easy to pack into a bag if you are travelling.
They can get very hot though, so even if the light indicator shows that they are on, be careful you don't get burnt. Also watch, obviously, that you don't have them on near kids.
I think the regular price is about £34.99 in Boots (although you probably get them in most electrical stores), although mine seem to be quite sturdy and longlasting so I think it will be a while before I have to replace them.
