Sound for Need For Speed Carbon is excellent, especially if you have a sub woofer placed on the floor like me. Revving the engine, shakes the sub woofer and your feet giving some real atmosphere. NFS: Carbon was my 2nd game Xbox 360 game, after I played Most Wanted on the PC. My 1st 360 game was PGR 3, which didn't attract me much due to the lack of action. I was so excited about Carbon that I even brought the collectors edition.

After some persuasion from my friend I have decided to join Ciao again. Sorry if my reviewing skills are a little rusty :P
++Need For Speed: Carbon - Overview++ NFS: Carbon is the next game in the popular award winning series from EA games. Again, like its Predecessor (Most Wanted) its full of street racing action fuelled by a whole lot of nitrous! There are quite a few changes from the NFS: Most Wanted; Drifting, Canyon Races, AutoSculpt and more! I'll explain these as the review goes along.
++Originality++ Carbon has had changes and improvements made from the previous game. For example, there is more choice of game modes which include: + Canyon Duels - Race down canyons! + Drift Races - Drift round corners and rack up the biggest score. + Pursuit Tag (Xbox Live Only) - Cops vs. Racer. + Race Wars - 20-car Race.
New Features Include: + AutoSculpt - Customise your own body kits, spoilers, wheels and more. + Crew Members - Get help in races by crew members showing you shortcuts, speeding you up and knocking opponents off course.
One thing which puts it down is that the same traffic and sounds have been used from Most Wanted. Looks like they got bored in developing it so copied from the previous game!
++Sound and Graphics++ Like all games on the Xbox 360, EA have made full use of the graphics. I would give the graphics 9/10 as they could be more detailed like other games on offer. Carbon is set at night, it would have been nice to have day and night but darkness really sets the atmosphere for Canyon Duels.

Carbon also benefits from atmospheric sound. For example, if you have 5.1 speakers and there is a car coming up behind you, that's how you hear it. In the back speakers. Unfortunately, I only have 2.1 so can't make full use of this. One downside to the sound is the soundtrack. Seems to me that EA doesn't have much taste in music.

The game is easy to get used to and play. It does get somewhat harder as your progress but not much. The controls stay the same with 1 added feature, crew activation.
The game is enjoyable as you get involved more in the storyline. However, that's about it. There isn't much storyline to it! After about half the game you can predict what will happen in the end, more twists and turns would have been nice! The police pursuits have been toned down from the previous games with less emphasis on them. I think EA could have stuck it in more to squeeze out more fun.
The crew members/wingmen would be excellent . . . if they didn't get in your way. Although they do help you win races your crew members often turn out to be obstructions rather than help you.
++Addictiveness and Longevity++ Now comes the major downfall of this game, the length of it. The career mode of the game is WAY too short. You will find this wherever you read a review of it. I'm not a 'hardcore' gamer by any means. However, I managed to complete the game within 2 weeks, roughly 7 hours of gameplay.
Don't get me wrong, the game is addictive. However, it's like you are running a 100 metre race and you run into a steel post. It ends just as you get into it. Most Wanted lasted long enough for me to try out lots of different cars throughout of the course of the career mode. In Carbon I only got to use 5! Pretty low when you consider that the game has around 50. This is the only major moan I have about the game.
The game is extended somewhat if you play the challenge mode and try and collect all the reward cards. Reward Cards set challenges throughout the whole game to help unlock cars and parts. The challenge series is the same as Most Wanted, complete a certain type of race or pursuit for more unlocked items.
The game could go on forever if you wanted, just use Xbox Live. Here you can play people online from all over the world. I've played people from America, Wales, Scotland and Germany to name a few. Some races like Pursuit Tag are only available online.
++Value For Money++ I feel that the game is good value for money, as long as you don't buy the collectors edition. The only different thing you get is a fancy cardboard cover and different cover art. With the addition of a few extra cars. The extra cars can only be used when playing for fun so pretty useless. If I would have known this I would have gone for standard. Even so, its just about worth the price.
I would recommend that you buy this game but make sure its the standard edition and getting it used might help on making a saving*
++Overall++ Good racing fun, great new features, just not enough fuel.

Advantages: Fantastic Graphics, Good music, Surprisingly good story Disadvantages: Over just a little too quickly, it looks like its been built on that "NFS" template ea have!
The game starts out promising, after completing the last outing of NFS on the xbox 360 (most wanted) and having found that great I started out in good mind.
Getting into it, the GUI had been changed, the game feels a lot "cooler" than it did before. The main game is 4 cities, win races in each and then defeat a boss and take over that area. Defend your areas and progress around the map defeating the crews.
This feels like dynasty warriors a little ... ...mate idea which has been introduced is original and works very well which i didnt expect. You can call a crew member at any time during a race to give you a helping hand in one of four of their specialist areas.
The multiplayer is everything you expect, ranks, xp, lag free most of the time and fun! My only agreivements I have with this software is it is simply too small. You will trawl through the single player very quickly! Its all over a little ...

Advantages: Great graphics, time control feature, easy to get into. Disadvantages: Repetitive, no "normal" cars and Far To Easy!
...owned any games from the Need for Speed range since the original Need for Speed came out on the X Box. My favourite part of the previous version was being able to modify everyday cars, such as the Peugeot 206 and the Ford Focus. Unfortunately, these run-of-the-mill cards are not featured in this version. The game play did not appear to have changed much, although the addition of a "time control" button, allowing you to manouveur out of tricky situation ... ...enjoyed the fact that the game was very easy to play, and after a few goes I was starting to win races. To its detriment, I found the game rather repetitive, very rarely would I come across a race which I could not win at the first attempt, and hardly ever found myself using the new "wingman" feature, which enables you to call in another driver to assist you by blocking opponents etc. The storyline was also rather repetitive, with occasional, predictable ...

...be desired. Being a need for speed fan i was looking forward for the latest release however i was sorely dissapointed. The new wingman system is pointless and clutters the gameplay, your wingman is more often a hinderence than help. The police chases are extremely easy to get out of, the final boss races in the canyon are also easy, i only lost one race whilst playing the game. The car customisation is better than other's in the series, however the ...

Manufacturer's product description
The battle for the city is won in the canyon as Need for SpeedTM Carbon immerses you in the world's most dangerous and adrenaline-filled form of street racing.
For the first time in a Need for Speed game, build a crew and race in an all-out war for your city against rival crews and opposing car classes. You'll risk everything to take over rival neighborhoods one street at a time.
Each crew member has unique skills that you trigger during races to give you the winning edge over opponents. Call on a Blocker to create a distraction and slow down other racers or a Scout to lead you to shortcuts on the track.
As the police turn up the heat and force the races to the outskirts of the city, the battle ultimately shifts to Carbon Canyon, where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve.
Use your creativity to design your crew's cars with the revolutionary new AutoscupltTM car customization tool that gives you the power to turn every vehicle into the car you've always wanted.
Represent your car class, your crew, and your streets in Need for Speed Carbon, the next revolution in racing games
Features:
Survive the Canyon - Leave the streets to battle rival bosses in the canyons outside the urban center. All-new Canyon Duel and Drift race modes are the ultimate test of skill and nerve, where one wrong turn could cost you more than the race.
The City Is Yours for the Taking - Race for control of the city block-by-block by taking down rival crews on their turf, then defeat their crew leaders in life-or-death races in Carbon Canyon.
Customize Your Dream Car - The revolutionary new AutosculptTM car customization tool gives you the power to design and morph your car in every way imaginable.
Represent a Class - Affiliate with the Tuner, American Muscle, or Exotic car classes and prove once and for all who makes the best set of wheels. A new physics model makes each car handle and drive differently.
Build Your Crew - Strategically choose your crew members and use their skills on the road and in your garage to help you win races and customize your cars. Designate any member of your crew as a wingman and trigger his special skill to knock out your rivals.
Over 50 Real-World Licensed Cars - Every car is tuneable so you can customize their look and performance to suit your crew.
