The graphics are really good, and the car models look as they should. Plus this game has a damage engine, something which has distinctly been missing from recent Need for Speed titles. Even just a wobbly bumper can have an adverse affect to how the car handles too.

Gone are the bright Neon streets, gone are the police chases, gone are the corners that you can throw the car sideways through without slowing.
In their place are legal race meets, with a number of different disciplines:
Grip - Straight forward race.
Grip Multiclass - Cars are grouped according to performance, you race against cars from your class, but cars from other groups are there also.
Time Attack - You have a number of laps to post the fastest lap.
Sector Shootout - The lap is broken up into four sectors, achieve the fastest time through the sector to acquire points
1/4 mile drag - Fastest time over a 1/4 mile wins.
1/2 mile drag - Fastest time over a 1/2 mile wins.
Drift - Score points by drifting the rear end around corners.
The first four require a car setup for circuit racing, and drag or drift for the remainder. If you are connected to Xbox Live and do well in a particular race, you can upload your stats and shadow onto the leaderboard for fellow online players to race against. Unfortunately, you don't get an instant display of the leaderboard to see how you placed. To view your place, you need to search through the leaderboards for the meets, and then the particular race to see how you done.

Modding the visuals on your car involves applying layer upon layer of symbols and shapes to acquire the look you desire. What this means is that it can takes hours to get it looking right, and is probably far too fiddly and time consuming for most. One plus side is, that if you do spend a lot of time getting it right, and have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, you can share your blueprint with your friends. You can also trade blueprints with other users.
Sound is OK, there are some good music tracks used, although you normally only here snippets while you navigate the menus. One thing that becomes annoying very quickly is the repetitive commentary.
I would recommend that anyone looking to buy this game should download the demo, play it in your local game shop, or rent it first. It may not be your cup of tea if you liked the recent NFS titles.
Advantages: Graphics, quality Disadvantages: not on the street
...direction and graphical prowess of Need for Speed ProStreet. Many of you may already know about the look that EA was going for from its magazine, online and TV advertising, but seeing it in game motion adds the exclamation point. Basically, Need for Speed ProStreet is what a next-gen, grassroots-style street racing game should look like: borderline over-the-top, but with a keen sense of how function needs to follow form at times. It's also evident ... ...side rarely stays up in Need for Speed ProStreet, and EA built the technology that makes vehicle damage look better than nearly any other racer out there (even its own Burnout titles). Not only will cars erupt into pieces, but more subtle blemishes, such as paint scrapes, tears in metal and holes punched through fiberglass body kits show up with regularity and look ultra-realistic. Better yet, these flesh wounds show up hastily repaired with duct ...

...they shocked the world with Need for Speed Underground. Underground was EA's first foray into the "tuner" style market popularized by the important racing scene and an arguably fast and furious movie, and its timing to the extreme racing party couldn't have been any better. The second iteration of Underground hit when the import aftermarket was at its peak. Also helping the sales of Need for Speed Underground 2 was the fact that it was a solid game ... ...options. Seeing a need to change directions with the franchise, EA actually went back to the Hot Pursuit days and created the very well-received Need for Speed Most Wanted. While Most Wanted attracted new users with the po-po chases, the hardcore Underground guys seemed a bit left out in the cold. Need for Speed Carbon was EA's prescribed remedy. Although a decent game, Carbon came off a bit too trendy and "tweener" for those wanting to relive the ...

...for the developers of the need for Speed series. Every couple of yewars they have to re-invent the game to suit the trends and to try and rake in some more cash.
Unfortunately, they seem to have gone off the track a little in the latest game of the series, Need for Speed: Pro Street.
This Game is different from other titles, because it focusses solely on legal, track racing. What made the other titles so good, now seems to be gone from the series. ... ...Unlike other games, however, you need a seperate car for every type of event.
Having said that, the game does have some shining qualities. The graphics are awesome, and the new damage system really works. The customisation allowed on cars is sublime.
But, this game is littered with ads. Everywhere in the game you can see an ad for some company, whether it be for your car repairs or for better oil.
Because this game is supposed to be more realistic, ...

Advantages: More realism. Disadvantages: Graphic draw distance isnt great.
This version of Need For Speed takes you down a different route than the last 4 incarnations and does away with the illegal street racing \"scene\". This time around you are trying to make a name for yourself at legal track days. There is no emphasis on big garish cars with big body kits and neon lighting. There is no racing down high-streets in the dark.
The game takes on a more simulation feel. You cant just pile around corners at top speed hoping ... ...in the lead. If you crash you inflict damage on your car. This can hamper your progress in the race and future races if you dont repair the damage between races. Gone is the concept of creating one amazing car that works perfectly in all types of races and in comes the new idea of creating cars design specifically for each event. This means you can buy a nice nimble car for you "grip" races and a beasty muscle car for "drag" races. The decision to ...

Advantages: Clever interface Disadvantages: Lack of gaming/price
After the previous series of NFS I thought this game would live up to the hype of being the most realistic driving experience on the xbox 360.
After paying £45 for this game is a amazed by the graphics - truely outstanding especially with the damage feature which is in a league of its own. A clever concept but that is about it. After playing the game for 5 minutes I realised that you can only do drag races and circuits - a lot of time spent on modding ...
