Several years ago whilst doing some research I found out about a website called Neighbours From Hell In Britain.

The website had been set up by a man called Matthew and his wife. They had a problem with an abusive neighbour and, whilst looking for online support, found that there was nobody operating such a service within the UK.

They decided to address the issue and the Neighbours From Hell website was launched at ww.nfh.org.uk. Founded in 2002, it has amassed an amazing 11,000+ members.

The website is fairly easy to navigate. There are documents that can be downloaded, a very comprehensive series of helpful articles some of which are written by real experts in the field of dealing with abusive neighbours. People who have been victims of such abusive neighbours, themselves. There are also interviews with government ministers and the like and a special section of the website that covers the latest news about abusive neighbours.

But the main focus on the website is the very lively and very active forums. These are moderated by volunteers (who all know the "joys" of having abusive neighbours!) and are usually available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Here victims of abusive neighbours can ask for help and advice, or merely report their problems to a sympathetic audience of 11,000+ other victims of abusive neighbours. For some people the simple realisation that they are not alone that other people are suffering at the hands of their abusive neighbours is very comforting. It helps them to realise that, in all likelihood, their abusive neighbour is not unique and that they, the victim, is not alone.

The forum board is split up into a large number of different categories. There are too many to mention in this review, but they cover a wide range of related topics. A section for new members to post their problem, a section for garden and boundary disputes, problem pets or animals, problem children, vandalism, drug dealing, anti-social behaviour, etc., etc. There are usually people on the board able and willing to offer tips and advice on how to deal with a problem neighbour. Based on their experiences with their own problem neighbours. There's often advice on how you can get the authorities and police forces to deal with abusive neighbours, when they are reluctant to get involved with what they erroneously view as "neighbour disputes."

There is also a very large "off topic" section that is basically a massive chill out zone, featuring everything from a humour section to television discussions, books, health and wellbeing, food and cooking, a birthday greetings section, etc., etc. There's even an arcade filled with dozens of online games for when your abusive neighbour has really wound you up.

Very useful, I had no idea that this was on the web. My neighbours are fine at the moment but you never know. Kirsty
