Neoware Eon e100 - C3

...As well as being a reasonable 'thin client' the Neoware Eon Preferred 2000e - MediaGX could be described as a generic Personal Computer, admittedly with a relatively modest specification, but PC nonetheless! I came about using a Neoware system from almost entirely the opposite direction from most people. The unit is marketed primarily as a 'thin client' - the 32Mb ROM allows a linux-based terminal emulator to run which can connect to a number of hosts using standard TCPIP over an Ethernet - and supports windows terminal emulation, 5250, TV100 etc. The applications run on a host server, and all the client does is do the media presentation stuff. On the other hand, looking at the system architecture, it's actually a modestly specified PC in it's own right. At the core of the system is a Geode processor - a cut down low power version... Advantages: Cool Colour
Disadvantages: only 2MB of RAM

...The IBM WorkPad C3, is more that just a Palm device it is a Statement. Telling every one that not only do you, master cool technology but you can make it look good. So for any one wanting to buy a Palm product buy a IBM WorkPad because it is a personal statement. I know it sounds stupid but never the less it is true, and I speak from "on the road" tests. Downsides it that the device only comes with 2mb of RAM and is noy upgradeable so any future buyers should go for the IBM WorkPad C3x.... Read review

Advantages: light, small, fast, lots of applications
Disadvantages: not enough RAM for big programmes

...I love my IBM Workpad c3 Palm Pilot, I use it to organise work, remember dates, play games, send e-mail and everything else. The main advantage that Palm Pilots have over normal organisers are the vast number of excellent programs written for them, you could have word processors, spreadsheets, graphics, communications and virtually any other program that is made for the PC. You can edit your files from the desktop on the move and read & send e-mail anywhere. You can chat with your friends find out where you're meeting them in an instant. The only downside is that there is a fairly limited amount of RAM, there is more than enough for countless thousands of pieces of work with the standard programs, but if you want to use bigger applications like dictionaries then you may have to delete some work or widgets.
