Nestle Yorkie

I have always had a passion for chocolate . . . There was and still is a special relationship between me and chocolate . . . whenever I am sad, depressed or happy, chocolate is always my favourite “must have” confectionery! I personally I don’t like chocolate wafers or chocolate with nougat or caramel. . . I like it simple and plain, it doesn’t matter if it is milk chocolate, dark or white so long as it’s plain so I can enjoy the real taste of the chocolate. Tis Love At First Bite……….. Well tis a cold wee Tuesday in Belfast and I am feeling cold as I am driving to work but I am kept going by the fact I am going to have a Yorkie bar when I arrive into work. Why you ask, well it's simple really. My name is "Art", "Ciao Art" and reviews are my game!..................... ***YORKIE*** This yummy, chunky bar is made by Nestle who are well known for making a huge range of products including ice-creams and confectionary such as Kit Kat, Polo, Quality Street and many more popular sweets and treats. The original chocolate Yorkie bar was launched in 1976, to take on brands such as Cadbury’s Dairy Milk and provide a chunky chocolate bar instead of the slim Cadbury Dairy milk Bars. Yorkie bar used to have a total of 6 chunks to the bar and each chunk would spell out the name Yorkie. How-ever now the bar only has 5 chunks and each chocolate chunk has Yorkie engraved on ... more

Hunky, chunky chocolate is what you get with Nestle's Yorkie bar. Its a no frills confection, quite simply something to get your teeth into. Unlike Cadbury's Dairy Milk and Mars Galaxy, Yorkie has a real chocolaty flavour to it. This is probably down in part to Nestle's continental heritage. In comparison Galaxy is overly sweet and CDM too milky. Yorkie is available in three regular varieties, Milk, Biscuit and Raisen and Almond. There is currently a honeycomb variety as well. In my house whenever anyone says the word “Yorkie” we are usually referring to the small brown and black dog that looks like a footstool on legs with a ribbon bow at one end. Of course we are aware of the existence of a chocolate bar also called a “Yorkie” but until last Thursday no such chocolate bar had ever been found in our house. Our chocolate bars of choice were always, Cadbury’s Dairy Milk, Galaxy or Nestlé’s Double Cream. In fact as a child I did not even realise that the Yorkie was just solid chocolate.
