Netfinity Fibre Channel Storage Manager Partition Enhancement version 1.0 extends the number of partitions supported by Netfinity Fibre Channel RAID Controller Units from 4 to 8. This extension allows up to 8 hosts to be attached to a common Fibre Channel storage array of logical drives. The Partition Enhancement version 1.0 is for use with Netfinity Fibre Channel RAID Controller Units and Netfinity Fibre Channel Storage Manager version 7.0. Advantages: New features, faster than win95 Disadvantages: Still unreliable, inefficient
...store an average of 28 per cent more data on existing drives by converting from the existing FAT16-file system.
It is also attractive because it eliminates the need for partitioned drives and allows up to a two terabyte size hard disk to be installed on a PC with FAT32 running.
There is a lot to read before committing to FAT32, and read it well, because once you’ve converted you can’t compress stored information or convert back to FAT16 unless you use a third-party management utility designed expressly for that purpose.
But Windows still has the old flaws, unreliable, and (compared to other OS's in its class) ineffiencent. Go buy Linux :P...

Advantages: Reliable, Good Networking (if you know what you are doing) Disadvantages: Complex, Not easy to use, Limited application support
...As an experienced computer user, I heard about Linux and decided to give it a try. I was first greeted with a complex installation process which I worked through. However, your average computer user would not have a clue what they were doing when creating partitions with a partition program that does not support 8.4gb+ drives.
I was next greeted by a Linux command prompt after installation. From there I having knowledge of Unix managed to find my way around the complex Filing System and after reading the manual got up the "X" shell. However, again your standard computer user would not even get to here.
From here, I found it pretty complex to set-up and figure out what I was doing.
If you need it for networking then I suggest you stick to UNIX or Windows NT as its ease of use is much greater than that of Linux. If you are a normal home...

Advantages: BIOS bootable, runs on old machines, quick and easy Disadvantages: Doesn't support Vista
...First things first, I want to make desperately clear that I am not a fan of Norton. They make extremely cumbersome software that uses up all of your system resources and memory.
However PartitionMagic really is the exception to the rule. Now first let's get back to the fundamentals. What does partitioning software do and why do you need it? Well, partitioning software enables you to split your hard drive into smaller sections, so that it seems you have more than one hard drive. There are many areas in which this can be useful, on my home machine I have 3 partitions, and these are for XP, Vista and Documents. When I boot up my machine I can choose from either XP or Vista, the when I have booted up on either I can access my Documents through D:\ (most likely).
So essentially if I decide I want to format XP and Vista my documents...
