There are already some fairly comprehensive reports on this item found on other peoples reviews. So I will just comment on my own findings.
Very easy to set up. I am a fairly technical person so found no problems with setting up the Netgear DG834GT.
Worked well for about 3 months then the problems began. Even though the DG834GT was only run for a few hours in the evening and at weekends I found it got rather hot. It also dropped its internet connection which became more frequent and more annoying. Eventually after about 6 months of limping along it packed up completely and I went to a different system.
I am not alone in my problems, (That is not to say if you purchase this router that yours will not be fine) other users on the (old) Netgear forum had similar problems. I eventually found that the signal from the internet was too noisy. The attenuation and noise margin were not great enough for me to receive my internet connection. How I know it was the Netgear router and not my line is that I purchased another wireless system and this worked fine with some reasonable gain figures.
I am now going through the Netgear return process so they can confirm the product fault. My advice is steer clear of this one and find a more reliable product.

Nice review.......but can somebody help me? Can i use this router to connect to my NTL/TELEEST cable ADSL connection? I cannot get a right answer for this, as different people give me different answers.

I forgot to add if you mount it vertically rather than horizontally it helps with the heat disipation. I didn't as I didn't like the look of the bracket.

Sorry to hear about your problems - touch wood mines been fine, and the biggest problem I had was connecting to it with a None Netgear USB dongle on another machine.

Advantages: Easy to use, good security features, lots of extras for thse who want to use them Disadvantages: Not the cheapest, documentation might not be great in the event of problems
Advantages: Small footprint, 802.11b, g and pre-n supported, easy to use and customise Disadvantages: Control panel can appear daunting at first, help provided could be more concise
