Great Multimedia Wireless Router from Belkin

Advantages: Reliable, Fast, Easy to configure, Lots of features, USB for sharing drives
Disadvantages: Bit expensive, Not full speed with every machine

INTRO The Belkin N+ router is one of the higher end (consumer) wireless modem router offerings from Belkin. It cost me £85 from PC World, but can probably be found for a bit less if you shop online. The Cable version costs a little less. Reason I bought this one was because two PCs in the house with wireless cards kept losing the wireless connection when I was using a Linksys router (my own PCs / laptops were fine though!). I replaced that with a second hand Belkin, which worked fine but unfortunately, a power cut killed the wireless on it. Liking the performance of that cheaper Belkin router, I decided to stick with Belkin and get this one! DESIGN The router looks very stylish and stands up tall rather than laid down flat. It doesn?t appear to have been designed to be laid down flat like many other routers, which may ...

Linksys's Lightning fast wireless router

Advantages: Fast speeds, Reliable, Stylish
Disadvantages: I had wireless problems, Gets a bit warm, no restart router option in config

The Linksys WAG160N N300 is an ADSL2+ wireless modem router, meaning it has a a modem built in. It is for use with BT Internet connections rather than for use with a Cable broadband connection (i.e. Virgin) although a Cable version is also available. It?s an ADSL2 router, which means it supports the newer ADSL standard, which could mean faster transfer speeds although this really depends on your line quality, distance from Exchange, service with ISP, etc. The router currently costs £74.99 from PC World but a bit less at £59.99 on their website. I bought mine about 8 months ago on Ebuyer for around £55. IN THE BOX You receive two ADSL filter s, RJ11 cable, user manual, manual and software CD, power adapter and lastly, the router itself. THE ROUTER ITSELF One thing I quite like about the router is that it looks quite ...

Review of Linksys Wireless-N ADSL2+ Gateway WAG160N - wireless router

Belkin Wireless Router gets top marks

Advantages: Self configurable, Web interface, Free Lifetime support, ease of use
Disadvantages: None

I did a lot of research into routers before jumping onto the wireless bandwagon and eventually plumped for the Belkin and I am more than happy with my purchase. The Belkin was by far the cheapest router at the time (I paid £50 in 2005) compared to most other models which were on average £20 more expensive for what I could see, was the same functionality. The Belkin also offered free lifetime support which could turn out to be a lifesaver as I have become very dependant on the internet to carry out my day to day duties. --Whats In the Box? -- There are no real surprises inside the box, you get the router itself, a mains power supply, an instruction book which is surprisingly good for an electrical product and a CD which contains all the necessary drivers and a more in-depth manual. --Setting up the router-- Before you can ...
