Having just moved out of my parents house into my first home with my fiance, I am having to budget and buy the shopping, this is something I have never had to worry about before as I have never had to thought about stocking the cupboards and how it is funded.

I now find myself with a tight budget to stock up with for the month and I admit I do shop around and Netto is a fantastic store for the odd treat and the basics.

The first Netto store was opened in the UK in Leeds in 1990 and now in 2006 there are 136 stores up and down the UK and constant plans for many more stores.

Netto is also one of the most recognised supermarkets in Europe with over 362 stores in Denmark, 223 stores in Germany as well as stores in Poland and Sweden.

Many people have a "snobbish" attitude towards Netto that it is only for poor people who can't afford Tesco or Sainsbury's this is utter rubbish, if you think this then you are just wasting money. Netto offers branded products at half the price which is offering the same quality of products as those you pay double for.

I have now had several visits to the new store in Flint and think it is fantastic, each week the offers get posted through our letterbox so I know if it is worth me going that week.
Netto aim to sell the best products at the lowest possible prices and they can do this as they are able to stock the products that consumers want to buy, sure you cannot guarantee to get the same items each week but you can be sure that you can still get a branded bargain.

Stocking brands such as:-
Muller, Andres, Tetley, Surf, Persil, Magnum, Coca-Cola, Strongbow, Stella Artois, JP Chenet, Haribo, Nescafe, Lindt, Cadbury's, Goodfella's birdseye, Comfort and Fairy.

As well as stocking branded products Netto stock their own products which are great value as long as you are not a label snob, which my fiance is!!

All fresh meats stocked of quality assured and of a good quality and at reasonably stocked prices.

Netto accept debit cards which they did not a few years ago, however they will not accept coupons, credit cards or cheques.

Carrier bags are 5p so if you want to be kind to your environment use the ones that you have in the cupboards and keep them in your car so that you can save the pennies in your purse!

Netto's main reason for success has to be that they remove all of the unnecessary extras by stocking the products tat customers need.

In my basket this week was:-

JP Chenet White wine £3.49
Weight Watchers Baked Beans 39p per tin
Lettuce 49p
Tomatoes 39p
Spring onions 39p
Pataks Curry Sauces 35p
Persil Gel Tablets 40@ £2.99
Goodfellas Thin Cheese and Tomato Pizza 99p
Birds Eye Fishfingers 99p
Magnum Senses Ice Cream 99p

I am now a converted Netto shopper but am aware that I cannot complete my full stock up here but it is great for getting in the basics and stocking up on toiletries and tinned products!

So stop being a snob and call in you might be suprised.

I am an avid Asda Fan, however, having read your review, I think I may have to take a trip to Netto, (if I can find one in East London, mostly Tescos) Thanks for the tips - very helpful review!

they have some great offers don't they!?! Steer clear of their own fishfingers at 15p though - We had some to try they were grey inside and not very nice! Good for discount branded stuff though
