Typical Male!! Smaller than it Say's it is.
Advantages: Easy to install, does what it's meant to Disadvantages: Exaggerates size
...computer retailer and purchased the Freecom Classic SL Network Drive. I paid about £110 for it, although i can see now that the price has dropped since then.
#The Look - Well this is a sleek design, although not as space-age as some I've seen, but is more than trendy enough for what i like. The nice thing about this is that it is flat and will easily stack, if several are needed.
#Installation - Well this is a Plug n Play device and was compatible ... ...it was just a matter of plugging it in to the mains, and connecting the USB2.0* cable. My OS recognised the Hard Drive immediately, and it was ready to use. It has a switch on the side to turn it on, and when connected to a computer a small light (blue) comes on to let you know that it is ready for use.
* USB2.0 has a faster data transfer speed than the older USB1.1
#Transfer and Space - The transfer speed is very quick, it takes about 25 seconds ...

Great idea, but not a great unit
Advantages: Central storage solution for Documents, 2x USB ports for printers Disadvantages: Very poor build quality
...lights and several emails to Iomega who finally sent out a replacement.
A few days later the second drive started to make very loud screeching noises. Upon a closer inspection we discovered that the fan had worn out due to the drive being on all day (even though our network room is air conditioned). This prompted another series of emails to Iomega and yet another replacement. We now just turn the drives on to run backups and then turn them straight ...

Filesystem woes with the Conceptronic CHD3NET
Advantages: both USB and Network capability Disadvantages: only supports FAT32
...are next to impossible. Unless Conceptronic updates the firmware and adds support for a modern journaling filesystems such as NTFS or EXT2 or 3, this is a strong argument to stay away from this product.
As a USB device, it should be turned on while plugged to the USB port in order to get it to work properly. As an FTP server, it works flawlessly, with Smbmount, I've had considerable difficulty getting it to play nice, but that may be issues with ...

Great unit, bad Firmware and Cust. Support.
Advantages: Handles beautifully on the network and runs smooth and quick. Disadvantages: Stock firmware is useless. Gotta use a 3rd party firmware.
This is a great little device, however there are some quirks using the stock firmware. I say forget the stock firmware altogether and install a 3rd party firmware instead. Otherwise you got a painfully useless brick. I've found fvdw online and it opens up several features that make this unit a dream to own. The sharing and FTP capabilities for multiple users is more secure and easy to create and maintain. fvdw can be found at: http://convopit.org/forum3/viewtopic.php?p=256939#p256939 ... ...at the forum is great. Recently the firmware won an award from: NAS central http://www.nas-central.org/2009-1-competition-results Again, this is an excellent device with very few issues as long as you use a 3rd party firmware. Phillips seems to not care too much about this product with poor technical support. Plus this device was not released too widely. They may not have expected it to do well in sales. ...

I want 2 of those dot com
Advantages: Small, Capacity, Ease of use, Setup Disadvantages: None as yet!
...100% control of the system. Buffalo support is excellent and they are al;ways happy to speak to you - even if it is for the most trivial of matters.
There are many ways in which you can organise your 1 TB (terrabyte - 1000gb) of storage. You can have it all as 4 x 250gb areas, 2 x 250gb mirrored areas and 1 x 250gb drive mirrored 3 times. For the home user or Small Business this should exceed storage requirements for some time. If you do have the ... ...2 terastations of more. As it stands the Terastation is hard to beat for storage or backup solutions. There is also the ability to send emails to one or more email accounts containing reports on the status of the system and apparently it will also send one if it has a problem - dont know if it does or not cos I havent had one yet! I can safely say that I have seen other solutions that are not a patch on the Terastation and would have needed much ...
