Being an essentially disorganised person, whenever we go away, it's almost guaranteed that I will forget to pack bits and bobs to cleanse my face. So, a couple of weeks ago, we took a trip "down south" and I had nothing to remove that dreaded mascara. So, a trip to Boots was called for to buy some cleansing wipes; I love the theory of these things-one wipe and you are cleansed, toned and moisturised in one go. I ususally buy the Boots No7 wipes, mainly because I love a bargain and they are often "buy one get one free", but I happened to notice these on special offer, so bought them. I am already a fan of Neutrogena products, so decided to have a go.
WHAT DO THEY PROMISE? They state that they are a facial cleanser, eye and facial make up remover (eye make up???- always a tricky one). They promise to cleanse your pores to remove dirt, oil and make up and to cleanse eye make up including mascara without excessive rubbing. The question is...do they remove all of the mascara or leave streaky bits? They are suitable for all skin types and are dermatologically tested (as are all Neutrogena products), and are soap and alcohol free. So far so good.
WHAT ARE THEY LIKE? The packaging is a white water proof packet, small enough to carry around with you and the peel back strip is resealable. There are 25 wipes in the packet, so they must be fairly tightly packed together. The wipes themselves are pulled out of the gap one at a time and are quite large strips with a faintly astringent smell, although not too over powering-I didn't feel as though I would smell like a bottle of disinfectant, but the smell was sterile enough to make me think I will be cleansed.
USING THEM
Remove a wipe, and wipe gently around the face, watching the grime come off your face...lovely thought.
DO THEY WORK?
Advantages: They certainly remove the daily grime and are great for a freshen up if you are like me and like to remove the worst of the grime when you get in from work or something. As with other Neutrogena products I have used, they don't dry out your skin- your skin does feel soft and clean after use. I do however, still have to moisturise afterwards A great product to take if you travel and don't want to carry lots of lotions and potions
Disadvantages: I can't vouch for them removing eye make up- certainly not mine (it being waterproof). I still had to use my eye make up remover or suffer the dreaded black towel syndrome! The wipes are far too big. They could be half the size and still do what they need to do...must be made for a giant's face! I suppose you could put them back in the pack for later use (not really!) or cut them in half but this would be too much like hard work!
WOULD I RECOMMEND THEM? Yes if you want a quick cleanse "on the go". I also like them for a facial clean in the morning when my face is already clean and just needs freshening up.
PRICE Prices vary from store to store. I bought these for "2.15 but they had been reduced from £5.30 which is quite expensive for 25 wipes.
