Crazy as it may sound, the reason for my originally choosing Neutrogena concentrated unperfumed hand crème was one of pure narcissism. Some might think that I am either plain vain, stupid or gullible. However, regardless of my original motives, it doesn’t alter the fact that Neutrogena Hand Crème is a product which I use on a daily basis.
It all started when I read a magazine article that people can tell a lot about someone from their hands – and not just their marital status. As a translator, my hands (and brain of course!) are the tools of my trade, and therefore are a valuable asset. Likewise as a cricketer, my hands are very important in all facets of the game. However, it was whilst on the (con)quest for the attentions of a young lady that I turned to Neutrogena.
First impressions do count, and seeing as perhaps the first thing that you do when you meet someone is to shake their hand, it is very important that you make the right impression. As well as nail files, polishing files and emery boards, for nails, the other important thing about looking after your hands is that you have good skin. Good skin is often equated with soft skin, and healthy skin helps in making that oh-so-important first impression.
I went for Neutrogena, because I remember my mother using it when I was a child, and given the traditionally cold winters that Austria has, I wanted a product that would work effectively. Neutrogena’s Norwegian formula is an established brand, and a popular choice here in Austria. It is also very readily available, and seems to practically march off the shelves here in winter – what a pity that it isn’t available as part of BOGOF or 3-for-2 offers. A 50ml tube is currently retailing at EUR 4.49 (about GBP3.00) but this is good value considering the fact that you need only the smallest amount of the product.
A 50ml tube of concentrated hand crème is good for 200 applications – and I generally get through a tube about once every three months. Being concentrated you only need an absolutely minimal amount of the stuff – a drop is enough to coat your hands adequately, and if you use any more then you are likely to end up with excess cream left over on your hands. I tend to have a tube in my kitchen, one on my desk at home and one in my briefcase for when I go into work. Sounds obsessive, but the feel-good factor of using the stuff is one of the reasons that I have so many tubes of the stuff knocking around.
The packaging is minimal – literally just the tube and the directions for use and ingredients appear on the back of the tube, so they have sensibly not blister packed the product, or put it in a cardboard box. The tube is made of plastic, and has plastic top. This helps to ensure that you can get the contents of the tube out easily – plastic tubes are easier to squeeze than metal tubes, which is especially good for people who find that tubes are difficult to squeeze. The tube is in white, with a red cap and blue writing – effectively liveried in the colours of Norway.
There is a perfumed version of the hand crème available, but I prefer the non-perfumed hand crème for the simple reason that as a man I don’t really want to have perfumed hands. Both seem just as effective as one another and I haven’t detected any difference in price between the perfumed and non-perfumed versions.
I originally used the product in the winter only, but have found that with slightly dry skin, that using it all year round has become the norm. In winter I suffer from chapped hands, often due to the cold, as I invariably forget to wear gloves, and temperatures are often well below freezing. In summer I find it soothing for cracked hands, and for split skin, often as a result of playing cricket.
All-in-all Neutrogena concentrated non-perfumed hand crème an excellent product, and one which I would not hesitate to recommend for users of both sexes and people of all ages. For its price, it represents very good value, especially given the fact that a single tube should see you through a whole winter, whilst still being small enough to slip into a handbag or briefcase.
Being unperfumed I have said that it doesn't smell very much for the "Does it smell good?" box below...
Advantages: Works really well. Disadvantages: None.

This is Neutrogena unscented handcream. They sell various types of handcream which are of the Norwegian Formula. They are in a little blue squeezy bottle containing 50ml of handcream, which is quite small compared to other handcreams. However, it apparently contains 200 applications (obviously depending on how much you use it), suggesting that not much is required each time. Obviously the unscented is unscented, but I would have said that there ... ...is white but some other Neutrogena is more of a clear colour, a bit like vaseline. I have been really impressed with all of the Neutrogena that I have tried. I bought several to leave in different parts of the house. I have used the handcream for sevearl times a day and each time, have thought how soft my hands felt. Basically horse riders (not so much the riding but the mucking out and cleaning tack) have to be very careful with their hands to prevent ...

Advantages: Fast and effective, easily absorbed Disadvantages: Expensive
Like alot of people, my first encounter with this product was watching their TV advert that claimed that even Norweigan Fishermen used this cream. This, I guess, was intended to show that since fishermen have notoriously rough hands, this cream can soften even the toughest skin. This ad of course soon became a bit of a joke amongst my family and friends as we mocked each other for wanting rough hands like a Norweigan fisherman. However, despite the ... ...went and bought it anyway.
With a price tag of around £3.50 (depends where you shop) it's highly tempting to buy a cheaper handcream on the shelf rather than opt for the one that you came in for. However, I bought it so I could see for myself whether it actually worked. I figured that if it was absolutely rubbish then I just wouldn't buy it again.
So when I got home I read the instructions hich informed me that the handcream was in concentrated ...

Advantages: Super soft hands, non greasy Disadvantages: None really
...This one, however, is neutrogena norwegian formula hand cream. Formulated, surprisingly enough, for Norwegian climates, what this means is that this is a cream that will stand up to the elements, restoring softness to even the nastiest cracked palms. Or so it's supposed to...we haven't got to the results yet!
**WHERE CAN YOU GET IT FROM??**
Off I toddled one day to my local superdrug, and there it was, in exactly where I thought it should be, with ... ...superdrug, you can also get it in Boots (along with those precious advantage points!!) and I'm sure many other places stock it as well - I haven't personally looked, but this stuff is a big seller, and so I'm sure many shops with any kind of hand cream selection will have it.
**HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?**
Time for the damage, i got to the till...£2.49? This seemed a little pricey for me, especially as the bottle is so small. I was later told (and ...

I bought Neutrogena Hand Cream - unscented, last May when I had been laying the turf in our garden. My hands were so rough you could've sanded planks of wood with them..!
My normal handcream just didn't do anything for them. It just seemed as though I'd not used anything at all. Drastic measures were needed when my kids wouldn't hold my hands because they felt so horrible.
So after seeing an advertisement about it in a magazine, I bought the Neutrogena, ... ...the top with the name Neutrogena in white letters. underneath the red band there is a thinner blue band.
In the centre of the tube the Norwegian flag sits slightly angled. I don't know the name of the flag (or even if it has one) but it's red with a blue slightly off-centre cross outlined in white.
Above the flag it says 'Hand Cream'
'Unscented' then underneath it says
'norwegian Formula' 'Immediate relief for dry, chapped hands' 'Concentrated'
...

Advantages: Great for restoring dry chapped hands to their former glory Disadvantages: Slightly medicated smell and a tiny bit greasy if too much is used.
