I love beauty products, and I enjoy experimenting and trying new things. On another visit to Home Bargains I spotted these on a shelf and decided I had to give them a go.
The range
Neutrogena products are made by Johnson & Johnson and have been around for about 25 years.
The Pure Glow range from Neutrogena is designed to give spa like results after use. The products are supposed to cleanse and instantly brighten your skin. They are designed to leave your skin glowing and reduce the effects of weather, pollution and hectic lifestyles.
The range of Pure Glow only actually includes three products at the moment. The Daily Cleansing Cushions , Daily Warming scrub which apparently uses breakthrough technology to exfoliate and intensively cleanse the skin and Illuminating 2 in 1 Wash Mask which can be used in two ways : - as a daily cleanser or as a five minute weekly mask for a more through cleanse.
The packaging
The cushions come in a mainly yellow coloured cardboard box. There’s the obligatory models face with perfect skin on the front and various information about the product which is in approximately five different languages. The packaging actually reminds me of a panty liner box, especially after looking at the way you open the box up. It doesn’t look particularly eye catching on enticing; it actually looks a little cheap, which is a little surprising.
My cushions were aimed at normal to combination skin, but they are also available in normal to dry skin and Combination to Oily skin. It I had had more choice I would probably have chosen the normal to dry skin ones, but as they were in Home Bargains the only had the one option. The box contains 22 dual textured cushions. The box has a lift up flap that perforates as you lift it for the first time. After you’ve removed a cushion you can easily fasten the lid back down, by tucking in the protruding flap.
Inside the box you are greeted with a transparent plastic bag, inside which are the cushions.
Price and Availability
I paid £1.69 for the box of cushions in Home Bargains. I think I got myself a very good deal as they tend to be closer to the £5 mark in most shops. I have seen them in Boots and Superdrug, but I find when products like this are available in Home Bargains they tend to be going off the shelves quite soon. The price I paid works out at about 7p per cushion which I think is quite impressive! Had I paid £5 for the box, I don’t think I would be too happy.
The Cushions
The cushions are circular in shape and are about the size of a bottom on a standard mug. They are white in colour and have a slightly sticky feel to them, even when dry. Each cushion has a finger sized hold on one side, which allows you to stick your fingers in. The cushions are very thin and do not resemble cushions. I think they look very similar to cotton wool pads but slightly more luxurious. They have raised bumps on one side which look quite like the shoes side of an insole. The other side – which has the finger hole in it, is softer, and has a lined pattern to it. After touching it, it feels like this is the side of the cushion that has some kind of lotion built into it.
One noticeable thing about the cushions is the smell. They smell lovely; it is quite a floral, fresh scent, which is quite like deodorant.
The box states: -
side 1 - foaming beaded side helps cleanse deep down to help remove dirt & oil whilst its ultra-fine exfoliates sweep away dulling impurities
'Side 2 - soft striped side moisturises to replenish skin for a silky soft after-feel
How do I use them?
You need to put at least two fingers into the hole (I have to use three otherwise it falls off) then run it under a warm tap. Firstly you need to use the bobbled side of the cushion to cleanse the face, try to be gentle, otherwise you may make you face sore. I’m always wary of exfoilators on the face, as I tend to have dry skin and this can make it worse.
Secondly use the other side of the cushion – the softer side and rub over the face before rinsing the face properly with clean, warm water. They claim to be suitable and gentle enough to be used daily.
So what do they do?
You exfoliate with the bobbled side first which produces a soft, smooth lather, which feels quite luxurious on your skin. Don’t rub too hard with the cushion otherwise you’ll end up with sore skin. The bobbles aren’t harsh but if you press on too hard, it does hurt. Once you’ve cleansed your whole face you turn the cushion over and repeat the actions. This time the pad will kind of soak up the lather that the other side produced. It doesn’t totally remove it, but does soak up a lot.
You will still need to rinse your face properly with warm water.
After rinsing my skin feels smooth and soft. It feels quite moisturised and as though the cushion has done some good. I am impressed with the majority of my skin, but my dry bits do feel a little sensitive, so maybe the exfoliating side of the cushion is not ideal for me.
I wouldn’t say this comes close to the feeling you get after a facial but I do think it’s quite nice. I don’t think I’d buy a new box once this one has run out though.

Advantages: lovely and refreshed skin Disadvantages: it scarred my face
...Boots and came across these. Neutrogena PureGlow Daily Cleansing Cushions. It was buy one, get one free at the time as I thought I was getting a good deal at £4.99. But did I? Let's find out.
== The Cushions ==
There are different cushions for different types of skin. In the shops, I've seen Normal to Dry skin, Normal to Combination skin, Combination to Oily skin. They come in a box of 22. They are made by Neutrogena who are owned by Johnson & ... ...that I didn't want, scarring. Neutrogena does a lot of products for people with spots but I feel that they should put a warning on saying that people with any spots should be careful in using it as it may cause scarring. I only ended up using about 10-12 of these and I still have another box. So definitely a waste of money for me but if you don't have spots, it's okay to use but still expensive if you do have that perfect skin (that I want, give ...

Advantages: Smooth and soft skin, makes you 'glow' Disadvantages: Quite expensive, only 20 cleansing cushions, beaded side can hurt!
Neutrogena has been my favourite health & beauty brand for a long time now, and they have never really disappointed me with any of their products, and this is another that I've been pretty happy about, Neutrogena PureGlow Daily Cleansing Cushions.
I've previously bought two boxes of these before, and I got through them pretty quickly, but maybe that's because I used a cleansing cushion every night before I went to bed. Anyway, yesterday I visited ... ...Boot's and was able to get a product for free because she'd spent a certain amount of money - or something like that anyway, she didn't really explain. Anyway, when she showed me that it was a box of these, I was really happy. I'd been meaning to buy some for a while and just kept forgetting everytime. She knew that I loved Neutrogena, and said that I could have them, so here they are at home with me right now :)
The cleansing cushions come in a ...

Advantages: Cleans your face with little fuss. Good idea Disadvantages: A little bit of wishfulness on Neutrogenas behalf
When recently shopping in Boots, I got a £2.50 voucher to spend on skin care. Looking at the selection available, I saw these on sale at £4.79, or something thereabouts. Remembering seeing them advertised on TV, I decided to try them.
The Advert
From what I remember, the advert showed a pretty blonde (I can't remember who) using this product and claiming excitedly that it was 'just like going to the spa' or you get 'spa-like' skin. Its almost certain ... ...idea is a good one.
The Packaging
The product comes in a box, with the combination skin box design yellow in colour, with a blue-grey edge. It shows a women looking insipidly happy to be cleaning her face, but for the price that she's paidto be in the photo, I think I'd be happy too. The official description is: "Neutrogena PureGlow daily cleansing cushions: for a fresh glow of a professional spa-facial"
The Product
So, it's a simple idea. Pure ...

...in the Poundshop for the Neutrogena PureGlow cushions. Yes, £1 for 24! The box I have has a purpley strip across the front, telling me that these are for normal to dry skin, but there are different varities, such as oily, or combination skin. On the other, thicker ... ...the pads is easy. Just slip your fingers (two or three, depending on how big yours are!) into the pouch, with your fingertip side facing the beads. A quick splash under some warm water, and you're away. The cushion will create a small amount of soapy foam to wash away the cells that have been exfoliated. When you've had enough of that, turn it around and do the same motions with the smoothing side. After a couple of minutes, wash the suds off and ...

Quick review of Neutrogena Pure Glow Cushions Combination
So i was browsing in boots, and saw the pure glow cushions, saying for normal to combination skin, which is me. It said you would get that spa feeling or whatever. So i tried it. It certainly cleaned, but left my face a little dry. So i continued to use it for a few days, and noticed my skin was n't happy with it. My face was getting drier and drier, and my spots got redder. So now twice a month is when i use it. ...
