In the Clear
Advantages: Soft and smooth skin with less visible pores Disadvantages: Can dry out the skin, scent is a bit medicimal
...Here is my review of Neutrogena Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Wash:
I love to try out facial washes, masks and creams. Considering as an adult I still suffer from teenage skin! getting spots on my chin and shine, I tey quite a few! I like this one! I have never tried Neutrogena products before, so I thought I'd have a go.
The Pre-Buy:
I had seen the adverts on the TV for the Neutrogena range of facial washes ... ...on Channel 4, forgotten her name! anyway her skin looks flawless and radiant, so that won me over, I want that too! I have combination skin that occasionally gets oily and I suffer from spots so it's hard to find something that sorts it all out!
The Price:
At my local tesco store, this was on offer and I purchased a 150ml tube for £3.48, not bad considering it's normally just shy of a fiver! I thought I'd try it.

I love to try out facial washes, masks and creams. Considering as an adult I still suffer from teenage skin! getting spots on my chin and shine, I tey quite a few! I like this one! I have never tried Neutrogena products before, so I thought I'd have a go.
The Pre-Buy: I had seen the adverts on the TV for the Neutrogena range of facial washes and masks, featuring that girl from the American Superman series on Channel 4, forgotten her name! anyway her skin looks flawless and radiant, so that won me over, I want that too! I have combination skin that occasionally gets oily and I suffer from spots so it's hard to find something that sorts it all out!
The Price: At my local tesco store, this was on offer and I purchased a 150ml tube for £3.48, not bad considering it's normally just shy of a fiver! I thought I'd try it.
The Packaging: Bright orange certainly catches your eye! the text is clear to read on the tube, however the jargon on the back is a bit hard to read and not very well placed. The packaging looks almost clinical and very professional. The easy to open/close cap saves you from any spillages or messy worktops! A 150ml tube is a nice size, enough to get your money's worth, but not too huge so you can't find a place for it in your bathroom cabinet!).
The Product: It say's on the tube that this gentle exfoliating wash 'cleans deep down-leaving skin soft and smooth, and is also dermatologist tested'' The product contains natural plant extracts to cleanse the skin and soft microbeads to exfoliate it. I like the facial washes that exfoliate, as I don't feel they are getting deep down into the pores, we want it to work for our money!
The Use: I have used this product for a couple of weeks now, and I usually use it after my shower in the evening. I cleanse my skin with a separate cleanser then as the tube suggests; 'Massage onto wet face, avoiding the delicate eye area, then rinse with water. Is suitable for daily use'. The first few times after I had applied the product and washed it off myface, my cheeks were slightly red and felt dry for a few minutes after. I was concerned with this at first, but stuck with it! The result is great really, I do not get dry or red skin anymore after use, in fact it feels lovely. My skin feels immediately smooth and soft to touch and pores appear less visible (what I mean by that is the raised bits you get from blackheads and spots appear to be reduced before they are about to form! horray) My skin isn't completely clear as I am still getting the occasional blemish, I should imagine after a few months use things will really start to look up! (I hope!). My skin feels very soft right round until the next wash with the product! The scent of the product isn't strong which is good, it's a bit medicimal whiffing though! the wash is a clear like gel with blue microbeads in it. Once added with water it lathers up nicely and feels good on the skin.
The Verdict: So far so good! It works! the product is good value for money, it makes my skin feel soft and smooth too. A little goes a long way so you don't need a lot so it's economical stuff. At first it may make your skin a bit dry but as it's gentle and your skin adjusts to it, it won't last long and goes after quickly! My skin is soft for the whole day and I have noticed a difference in my skin quality too-for the better! I hope this keeps working! I would recommend this product to even people with sensitive skin, as sometimes my skin can be a bit sensitive and it's fine on me, as it's a gentle wash I'm sure it would be fine.
Choc of the chip's top tip: I would recommend lathering with the wash for a few minutes to really get deep into those pores!
Advantages: Actually works! Disadvantages: Hope they don't stop making it
...have lately tried some other Neutrogena Visibly Clear and Visibly Refined products and not been overly impressed. So why did I find myself buying the Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Wash? Because I'm a sucker? Because it was on offer? (at Superdrug).
Yes, hard to believe I just keep going back for more. This product looked like it was going to suit my skin and my requirements though (don't they all?). My pores get blocked easily and I find exfoliating ... ...are too harsh to use every day (and my skin's a bit sensitive) but the days I don't use it my skin gets quite clogged and then spots break out.
So when I saw this Gentle Exfoliating Wash which can be used everyday, I was pretty keen despite the track record.
~~ the marketing ~~
The tube says it contains natural plant extracts and soft microbeads to help prevent blemishes without over-drying your skin. So there.

...blackheads. I have tried another Neutrogena one and found that really good, so I hear you ask, “If it was that good why didn’t you stick with it?” Well there’s always that feeling of maybe there is something better, and if I didn’t try lots of different ones then I wouldn’t have anything to write about and I would lose my 10p for writing my review!
Anyway back to the product I acquired this from my sister, she had bought it on buy one get one free ... ...I won't be offended!
Neutrogena was founded in California in the 1930's by a man called Emanuel Stolaroff (why is it always men?), To begin with it was a small cosmetics company called Natone, He mainly supplied the beauty salons of the film industry. In the 1940's his products hit the mainstream retail market, But things really changed in the 1950's when he heard a Dr. Edmond Fromont had patented a soap that rinsed quickly and left no residue. ...

Advantages: Cleans skin, gentle formula Disadvantages: None
...do like a bargain. Neutrogena Visibly Clear was half price! It should have been £3.79 reduced to £1.50. Much cheaper than the other brands and it made me feel much happier as I think of it as a 'grown' up product, whereas Clearasil is associated with spotty teenagers!
This product is in a 150ml tube, with the top part of it being orange in colour, and the bottom part silver. I am not embarrased to have it on display in the slightest. If I had bought ... ...Neutrogena Div - Johnson & Johnson.
(Didn't actually know that is was part of Johnson and Johnson, but that's what it says on the back of the tube!)
Thanks for reading. If you decide to give it a go, I hope it works for you too! ...

Advantages: Leaves skin fresh and clean Disadvantages: if used to often it can dry your skin out
...6 months ago. I think neutrogena are a trusted brand and to be honest I would use any product of theirs with confidence. It cost me about 5 euros (£3.13) so it was very inexpensive.
The tube is downwards facing so you never have any problem squeezing any of the wash out. This is particularly handy when its nearly all gone.
You only need to use a small amount (about the size of a pound coin). What I do is I put it on my hand and then rub my hands ... ...then begin to rub it on my face, I go in small circles around my entire face and neck. I then start to concentrate on problem area's such as my nose and under my bottom lip. I tend to get a build up of dry skin and blackheads there. Although this doesnt get rid of blackheads it takes the rough feeling away from them so you skin is left soft.
They say on the packaging that this is a daily scrub but to be honest I found that when i was using it everyday ...

Advantages: Non abrasive wash Disadvantages: none really
Being the "proud owner!" of two teenage boys, iy is my dubious pleasure to be in charge of finding products to keep them there testesterone driven spots at bay. What a task that is! It's hard enough when faced with the dazzling array on offer to find something for myself without that added little extra...something "not too girly". That's right, I have to find something which will keep teenage spots at bay, leave the boys with clean faces, and not ... ...ban on obvious zit remedies...who wants to admit they are fighting "the plague?"
So, about a week ago, i wandered miserably along the aisles in Boots when I spotted this little beauty. Neutrogena...good, I had used the products myself and had always been pleased with them, so would it pass the test?
Was it "girly"? No...point scored
Was it obviously for spots? No
A winner, so once purchased, i took it home, and left it nonchalently in the bathroom ...

.
Combination skin type
I have combined skin which means black spots (oxidised pores full of bacteria) and greasy areas are centred on and around my nose and chin but the rest of the face tend to be dry and in sometimes even red dry and patched especially on the cheeks.
The blackheads are pretty hard to get rid of given the limitations of what anti-bacterial products and hydrating (?) facial cleansers I can use that won't cause an allergic reaction but will eliminate bacteria.
Facial cleansers for problematic skin
To address the problem with the infected blackhead areas I bought two of the basically two main types of face cleansers on the market and I had started using alternately in my weekly regime. One of them was L'Oreal Pure Zone Deep Exfoliating Gel Wash, the other NeutrogenaVisiblyClear Blackhead Eliminating Scrub ...
Advantages: Great price... think that's it. Disadvantages: ORANGE, smells, streaky
You wouldn't believe the bargain I found when buying Piz Buin Mousse from Boots.com. I only wanted a starter kit because I knew how expensive self tans can be and I wasn't prepared to spend a lot of money to look like an orange (it has been known!).
For £3.32 (normal price £4.99) I was able to get a 'Try Me' Starter Kit containing:
* 50ml Piz Buin (Mid) Self Tan Foam (not quite a mousse)
* 150ml NeutrogenaVisiblyClear Gentle ExfoliatingWash
* Applicator Gloves
* And it all comes in a nice little cosmetic bag
The Neutrogena face wash is normally £3.99 so it was as though I bought the exfoliator and got the self tan foam and accessories free! The normal price of the 150ml Piz Buin foam is £11.99 so really, the whole set is huge value.
The bottle doesn't really give any good tips for getting a good tan but I already knew ...
